US carriers production

I was surprised when i discovered in the US production queue that there is no carrier. I thought that some carriers would be launched in mid or late 1942. (ok there is a single one, Dec. 1942)

Do i have to product them by myself, with my MPPs, or is there an event who would give me them for free ?

Moreother, is there a list, somewhere, of the game events, their conditions and effects ?
