Change scenario mid-play

Post by Uxbridge »

I made some changes to the full scenario before starting to play, saving it under a new name. I'm now some years into it with most fronts in play. I thought it would be possible to change some of the settings in the scenario, with the changes affecting saved games. This seems now not to be the case. I recon the settings is simply incorporated into the save file at the beginning and that alterations of the scenario itself can't affect that.

On the other hand, if is somehow possible, can anyone advice me how to change the settings so that I can try the effects on the scenario where I am presently. I rather not play it up to this point again only to try some things out. My hope was that I could somehow limit the paralysing effect urban areas has on large scale offensives, nivelling the influence to some degree.

There are some 'game in progress' changes that can be made in the Options Menu, but it sounds like these would not include what you are trying to do.
[A Save file saves the entire game file, so closing an 'in progress' saved game and then making changes to the original file will have no effect when you re-open the already saved full 'in progress' file]. If that makes sense [:)]
What you want to do is save a New Campaign at a point where you can easily make changes and monitor the effects. For example, if you want to tinker with Amphibious costs and effects, it is a good idea to open the 1944 Campaign and save it as a new test-bed that you can easily use for such purposes.

All right, that's what I feared. Better choose a pre-Barbarossa scenario, save it with changes and try the things out, then. Thank you.
