[RESOLVED] Build998.19 Steam

Post by whiskeytangofoxtrot »

Hello,

I am experiencing a problem loading scenarios since the 998.19 build release this morning on Steam.
When I load any scenario the Side select and briefing window comes up and before any text appears I get:
onThread Exception >> theEx != null >> value cannot be null parameter name: item

This happens for the stock tutorials and community scenarios.

I'm on Surface Pro 3/Win 8.1.

Apologies for scant data. If you need further info/logs/data let me know.

Much thanks!

Hi,

I just tried a few of the tutorials and the standalone scenarios and they seem to load fine.

Does the problem show up with all tutorials and standalones or some specific ones?

Also, is anyone else seeing this?

Thanks!

Ah, good catch. Most of the tutorials are also working for me.

Seems any of the Uncle Mark Tutorials 2-6 throw the exception for me.

update: testing diff between UM-tut 1 and 2. something in .scen file maybe.

update2: narrowed problem scope down to something in the <Scenario_Compressed> block of the .scen file. If I replace that block in UM-tut 2 (English Jets) with the <Scenario_Compressed> from a working tutorial, it load fine.

I'm not sure though what to do from here since I can't load the original into the scenario editor and recompile/export - and of course my very limited experience with the game and editor in general [:'(]

Can you give this batch a try? (See attached)

Also, is there a file called "DB3k_473.db3" inside your [CMANO]\DB\ folder?

Thanks.

Same problem with attached .scen files: thrown exception
Compared attached .scen files with stock in Notepad++. They appear to be the same.

Affirmative, I do have DB3k_473.db3 in my CMANO\DB folder
size: 38.0 MB (39,845,888 bytes)

Okay, this sounds really strange. I can confirm all these scenarios work just fine in my Steam install.

Is your system locale US, European, Asian, something else?

rats. i hate being the outlier [;)]

My system is US locale.

I'm pretty new to CMANO so not quite sure how things work under the hood. Given the error that the parameter 'item' cannot be null, and the tech support commandment THOU SHALL NOT REPORT PROBLEM UNLESS SCENARIO UPDATED TO NEWEST DB is there something I can try from a db standpoint? This is, I admin, not a good question, but just a thought as I have to get going to work this morning, which ironically involves tech support debugging. [:D]

I'll poke around the files a little more later on. If there is nothing obvious that comes up and no one else reports the problem a clean install on my end will probably be the quickest solution.

Thank you for your help and quick response, it's greatly appreciated and respected!

I _KNEW_ there was something odd in your calm, kind and "benefit of the doubt" demeanor [:D]

A quick purge and re-install may indeed solve the issue. Please don't forget to backup any custom saves/scens/mods first. Do let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Is anyone else seeing this problem with the new update? If we can find even one more instance we could begin to compare what is common in the two setups.

Dimitris,

I'm experiencing the same thing. It will open some, but not all. This includes some of the LIVE scenarios as well.

There is a problem.
