Any RC hobby here?

Post by Rising-Sun »

Been trying to find a good off road vehicle for fun. But I seen so many are terrible and not worth getting. I checked Amazon, didn't see what I was hoping for.

Now I don't have much experience to build one, but want one that is pretty big more than a foot in size. Wasn't sure if there a kit out there that you can build one from scratch.

It has been along time since I played around one of these toy, back in 1986 at least and it was a good big ol' off road buggy car. It was huge and easy to control. The only thing I didn't like is those cheap control stick with the wheel dail on the side.

Got one from Target, paid around 65 bucks for it and it was utterly crap lol. Best one they had, so not sure where to look for one, some good reviews but if something isn't right or not happy with it, gonna have hell sending it back for refund.

Just curious if anyone here have some experience RC hobbies and would like to put a little good camera on it for VR headset or tablet as well.

I got two drones, one is mini and the other is medium size with a camera, pretty good, but cant handle too much wind factors or ended up crashing in trees, etc.

Anyway feedback would be helpful.

Thank.

Can't help with any knowledge. However, there are two places around the area which seem to be what you're looking for.
R/C Kinetics 2771-2737 6th Ave in Troy and Science & Hobby 18th St & Rt 32 in Watervliet.

R/C Kinetics has an outdoor track (Google maps), but I can't tell if they do retail.
Science & Hobby does do retail but probably no track. It does seem to be in a less seedy part of town than Kinetics.

Hope this helps.

Not cars but I have two of these 1/16 Taigen tanks. Taigentanks.com

They're tough and fun but expensive as hell.

Thank guys, yeah they can be expensive. If you have the skills and parts, you could build your own.

Had acouple of Tamiya and Kyosho RC´s, one electric and one fuel back in the 90´s. Now I just have flight RC´s.

Most guys I know that are fans of RC models buy at Hobbyking.com, but that´s way over in China! Banggood is also a China based seller.

It´s a expensive hobby if you get into it!

That look like fun, I am more of off road here. Also like having a wasp drone, peeping around and scare the fishermen lol. Only if I can find a toy that will fit and light enough, I could put a shell on the drone I have and swoop around with it.

Took a look at link, the 1/16th tanks looks really nice. Video was amazing the tanks as it turned moved like the real thing!

The thing I really like is the sound the metal tracks make. That characteristic squeak and occasional pop is really cool.
