Windows 10 Installation Hang-ups

I have seen that people are able to install on Windows 10 so I'm sure the issue is between chair and keyboard, but when attempting to install EiA on Win10, the installer seems to work fine until it reaches 'seeking'. Then it hangs indefinitely until clicked on, which causes a crash of the installer.

I have tried running the installer in XP SP2 compatibility mode, and am running it as administrator.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the tips but unfortunately no luck.

The installer still freezes before the installation completes.
I have also tried with anti-virus disabled and the problem persists.

All the files seem to transfer just fine, but because the installer doesn't complete, Windows doesn't recognise it as installed (so it can't be updated either).

EDIT: Have attempted install on a different Win10 machine and it seems to have gone smoothly. I think the issue on the other machine is with windows rather than anything related to EiA.

Interesting. If you can figure out why the other Win10 machine prevented a clean install, please provide an update?

Matrix has acknowledged that the original game installer does have some issues due to its age now, and I've recommended a conservative installation sequence (clean install of original game, open the game, reboot, then install latest comprehensive update [and hotfixes]). It works for me, using 64-bit Win10. It is what it is.

90% of game install errors is permissions, 9% is pure poor AV ones, with some really very poor designed AV programs around, mainly avast but to name any more is to list more than i'd wish to type tbh, then the last 1% is split between hardware and software compatibility with background apps and programs and the game itself

I have since carried out a new install of Windows 10 on that machine so I doubt I will ever find the root of the issue. The new install was a long time coming anyway, as the machine has taken some abuse and really needed a clean (errors and slowdowns galore).

That being said I am going to attempt to install EiA again to see if I can replicate the errors (or better yet succeed in installing it).

UPDATE: This time EiA installs with no issues, so the issue was probably to do with some deep-rooted issues with my old Win10 installation. I wish I had the ability to find out what it was in particular but I doubt I'll be able to. Thanks again for the help!

Hi, I'm trying to reinstall the game on Win7. In the past never had problem but now the game is crashing during install. "not responding" while copying files. I tried to deactivate AVAST and to run in admin mode but won't work. Bizarre because I didn't have this problem when installing in the past.

I'm using : EmpireinArms-SetupRelease-DRv10503.exe

Any idea ?

Thanks for your description but I am having the same issues (freeze at the seeking phase) even if I follow your steps. If I keep retrying the Installer v1.05.03, I get a bug in the installation in the middle about a font issue. If I continue with an incomplete installation and go to the Update v1.22.02 or the Update v1.23.00 Beta it doesn't register the installation. Did you do anything else except install under admin account?

I would suggest don't keep retrying? Uninstall whatever got installed, including deleting whatever is left in the installation directory, and then reboot to try another clean install with the suggested sequence. It would be nice if Matrix updated the original game installer so players don't have to deal with these problems, but not likely. So a bit of extra patience is necessary. We all go through this but we're getting the game to run.
