Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1941. Allied #2.

Great Britain. Amphibious Invasion.

....it's up to the RN to prevent the Italians from reinforcing and resupply the island.
warspite1

So where is HMS Warspite????
He's in Malta awaiting orders to reinforce either RN forces off the Italian Coast or West Med or go out on ASW escort or patrol duty. You might be interested to know that Vice Admiral Stuart Bonham Carter, commander of the Malta naval base, has designated HMS Warspite as the flagship of battleship squadron 2, consisting of the four Queen Elizabeth-class battleships based in and operating out of Malta.
warspite1 [spitting and spluttering uncontrollably while his face turns from rosy red to crimson and his portly figure writhes uncomfortably on his chair]

He? He? How dare you sir!! Ships are female and HMS Warspite is the Grandest Old Lady of them all! And what's all this battleship squadron 2 nonsense man! And why is that slow 16-inch imposter HMS Nelson there? Or the old tart Royal Oak?? You need to get this sorted rkr1958 or you are going to lose the war!!! Where the hell are HMS Malaya and HMS Valiant? Get them to Malta pronto to join their sisters - and see if you can find HMS Queen Elizabeth too to bring up the five (although as usual I suspect she's having her nails or her hair done or some old rubbish). Then having got the four together (or five if QE can find the time to leave the dockyard) rename the squadron to the 5th Battle Squadron and then go and win the war. It's really not that difficult. Do I have to do everything around here??!!

[warspite1, spent with the exertion, flops back into his high-backed chair - almost empty glass of whisky still in hand - and falls asleep]

The 5th Battle Squadron: Had Beatty known his arse from his elbow the outcome of Jutland would have been very different.......

Barham (F), Valiant, Warspite and Malaya

Oh and while we are about it rkr1958, give Bonham Carter the sack and replace him with someone who knows what they are doing!!

Helena Bonham Carter tells her husband that he's going to be given the push in favour of someone who knows what they are doing by giving him a smack in the chops.....

I humbly apologize to the HMS Warpite for calling HER a HE. No lady should have to endure such.
