Another scenario is up for testing here: tm.asp?m=4580043

Mediterranean Fury 2 – Syrian Surprise.

13 Feb 1994, 1300 Zulu, 1300 Local

The opening day of World War Three; this is a companion to the Northern Fury series and the Northern Fury background document will give you much of the detailed history.

You are commanding an ESG (Expeditionary Strike Group) centered on the USS Kearsarge and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). In your 4th month of patrolling the Mediterranean you were about to commence an amphibious exercise with the USS Iowa using primarily British forces as the opposition. That all changed about an hour ago when you received the DEFCON 4 message from Washington, and an accompanying NATO Alert state RED.

Not dead by a long shot! Just working hard to get things wrapped up. Should have some news with a week or so. Not much longer.

Appreciate the patience.

A little more comprehensive update, we really do appreciate your patience but this is a much larger project than either of us had anticipated. So I guess we have fallen a bit silent lately. Joel is still serving in the US Army and he is currently deployed on operations while I am a confirmed ‘retirement failure’ and am far too busy with my day job. We also have families; my three grandchildren and Joel’s soon to be six children keep us hopping on that front. Anyway here is what is happening.

We’re done with the final draft of H-Hour and we believe the content is ready. The manuscript should be formatted for e-reader and hard copy within the next month, along with the sweet cover provided by Marco and his team at Slitherine.

The web page is being rebuilt and I hope to re-launch that in the next couple weeks. I think it will remain a work in progress for ever but I’d like to consider it a companion to the books; so the grognards among us can pin down some details but we won’t belabor the narrative with info dumps. Eventually I have some plans to make it a more interactive site but first things first. The Blogs have slowed down lately and we need to sort that out as well.

The initial three books will focus solely on the Northern Fury story arc but we need to flesh out the parallel stories to give them context. On the Scenario front, Joel is working on ‘Out on a Limb’ which is about where book 2 will bring us. I have one more scenario to build to cover what is needed but we have most of the story bits we need already and are into the writing process for that book. I’m building the Med Fury scenarios and will fill in the rest of Baltic and Caribbean Fury before the last few Northern Fury games get finished.

We’ll be making an announcement very shortly on a release date for H-Hour, but you don’t have too long to wait. The next book is still on the table for Christmas 2020 with a rolling fire plan for every two years after that. We may be able to speed things along once we get into the grove but time will tell.

Thanks for your support and interest, we think it’s a good story and it should be fun for you to read. I am sure that the CMANO crew will have a few ‘ah I remember that’ moments from the scenarios but the real story is how all the characters interact. Please keep the questions coming if you have them, we’re on Twitter most regularly and on this forum.

Happy gaming.

The initial three books
wow.

I kinda think Whicker would make a nice call sign. You know, if you need any more.

I just read 3 short sci-fi books from what I think was an independent author sort of winging it and I really liked them. First one was free the other 2 were 2.99 each (amazon kindle). Maybe 200 pages each or so. They were poorly proof read, but the story line I thought was really good.

Launch date for Northern Fury: H-Hour is now set! 6 May – it will be available at Amazon in print and E-reader format. Follow us on Twitter @NorthernFury and Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/northernfury/

Back Cover Blurb
August 1991. Soviet hardliner Pavel Medvedev knows that only bloodshed can save the USSR from complete collapse. With violence breaking out in the streets of Moscow, few realize that he is piloting the Soviet Union on a collision course with its deadliest enemy yet: NATO.

US Marine Colonel Robert Buckner, passed over for a coveted command, takes a post working for Vice Admiral Falkner on his way to retirement. With the world lurching towards World War III, he finds his way towards a panoramic view of the unfolding crisis and a pivotal role to play.

War breaks out across the globe, but the pin falls in the far north, where soldiers and civilians alike must battle not just the enemy, but the unforgiving elements. With arsenals of high-tech weapons loosed in both directions, the ultimate reward may not be victory, but survival.

H-Hour is the first book of the Northern Fury series, which tells the alternate history of World War III’s northern front through the eyes of those who lived it.

Umm...will the book explain why the F16 is opening/closing its gear doors? ;)

Kinda rare to drop gear and surrender, especially with the high-g/high thrust images on that cover shot.

This one gets added to my Kindle as soon as I see it's available. Now if I could play the scenarios as easily as it is to read your AAR's.
