Ship Spawning

Post by sapper32 »

Hi all im playing PBEM and during my turn a u boat was sat outside one of my ports on the UK east coast in the shaded hex, I attacked it twice and there was slight damage to both sides and the u boat held its position that's ok, But then as my turn finished a message popped up saying that HMS Lancaster was available and was due to spawn in that very port hex that was occupied by one of my destroyers that had just attacked the adjacent u boat so im guessing that as the port hex was occupied the destroyer tried to spawn in the hex held by the u boat and was destroyed as I got a message saying that it was destroyed next turn, My opponent knew nothing about the destroyer and had not attacked it, Is this a bug ? Should the destroyer remain in the new units list until a port is available for it.

Any ideas ?

Ian
The battle of Medjerda is almost forgotten, but was fought against highly disciplined German troops and blasted a route straight to Tunis it was a perfect infiltration battle and should be remembered as the best fought British battle of the war.

Thanks for the report and off hand I can say that it doesn't sound right at all and typically if a unit cannot spawn, you would not receive the unit that was set to arrive.

After reviewing the UNIT events I can see that this was set to arrive at Rosyth, but in this case, there should have been at least one extra hex for the Lancaster to arrive at, i.e. the port is occupied and the sub takes one of the adjacent hexes, but there would be one more next to that available.

So this does have me scratching my head and can you confirm that it was indeed the Lancaster that was reported as destroyed and not a different Destroyer?
