Sorry, no meaningful news, though Mobius and I are still working on it as our time permits. It's pretty slow going I know. We actually have made some progress, but still slow going.

I dont think any have been posted. The user interface hasn't really changed, so it would mostly be the models used for the new module that would be different, along with some new maps of course. And some changes in how the Map Maker works now. Actually new models is one of the things that takes time as Mobius has had to do them all on his own.

Thanks

What software is used for the models?

I think Mobius used to use autodesk(?), though he would need to confirm this. Right now both Mobius and I are looking at using Fragmotion.

In the past I think Milkshape(?) was used, and I think both Spillir and Jmass used Fragmotion for the models they did for Ostfront.

Mobius would probably be the one to answer.

Thanks

I did use Autodesk for the models. Alas, my motherboard crashed and I lost the software. Right now I'm trying to learn fragmotion but it is quite different than Autodesk.

So it damaged your hard drive? Too bad. Good luck with Fragmotion.

No. It didn't do it. It might of been a heat problem or dust.

I just discovered this game after looking for something more replayable than Combat Mission and without the surly Russian devs of Graviteam, I just wanted to say don't give up.

I hope you find Panzer Command Ostfront enjoyable. I know we did.

The development work on an expansion module has had a significant amount of work done on both the code and many of the equipment models.

There were 3 guys that worked on models for PCO, 2 of them used Fragmotion. But both of those guys have moved on to other pursuits. The 3rd guy (Mobius) was using Autodesk for modelling and has done quite of few of the models for expansion, but not all of them before he had an equipment failure. As a result he switched to Fragmotion. Unfortunately, he has encountered some problems getting Fragmotion settings correct. I also picked up fragmotion to see if I could help, but found that I'm fairly useless in the modelling effort.

If you know of any modellers who would like to contribute some time (or if Jmass or Spellir74 are still around), let me know. We have several pieces of equipment that remain to be done, as well as new infantry models.

Thanks
Rick

I'm afraid I don't know anyone could help. This is probably a dumb question but have you put out an open call on reddit or some of the 3D modelling forums? There are people willing to work just for the experience and, at worst, the simplicity of the models may help with fees.

Actually, not a dumb question. I hadn't even thought about those avenues.

You might want to get on that. If you can push this expansion out and get some press on the wargaming sites, you might be able revitalize the game a bit.

+1 An expansión can rescue this game from the darkness. PO is a hidden gem.

What was this expansion supposed to specifically contain, anyhow?
