Singapore and DE 105

Post by rob89 »

Hi all

I don't understand what are the effects of DE 105, 'UK: Prepare Singapore for War?'
which has a noticeable MPPs cost, but I can't find any linked Unit Event

thanks

Hi Rob,
I understand it brings Malaya into the war before the Japanese attack so the Allied player can send reinforcements and conduct upgrades.
It allows the Allied player to make strategic decisions on the defense of Singapore. Resources can go to the rest of the Empire, like Egypt and the Atlantic, or Commonwealth land units can be shipped to Singapore or MPPs can be allocated to build more - there is a costal gun and other units Malay can build.

Hi Robert,

the DE 105, 'UK: Prepare Singapore for War?' is very expensive (in terms of MPPs) and normally (and logically) this type of events are linket to a unit activation.

Strange ...

Agree, the DE is expensive.
One would have to see the potential for benefit and weigh the decision.

P.S. Playing against the Axis AI it was worth the investment: I reinforced with an Indian corps and HQ, and added UK technology advancements to the Malaysian units - they stopped the Japanese invasion when war came. [;)]

Well, there are 3 corps that appear in Malaya when the decision is accepted. Do these not count?

Could you please tell me which ones, because in the 'Unit Event' script file I didn't find any record linked to DE 105 or with the Link= 105 parameter

thanks

One is Westforce and one is Eastforce. I can't recall the thirds at the moment. I'll update when I get a look at my game.

As above they are strength 6 and not got any tech but they can be built up long before the Japanese show up

The battle of Medjerda is almost forgotten, but was fought against highly disciplined German troops and blasted a route straight to Tunis it was a perfect infiltration battle and should be remembered as the best fought British battle of the war.

Malaya is a Minor Country and its' units arrive when Malaya is activated.
