How do you place them to reserve at the start?
How to place aircraft, and pilots, in the reserve pool at start.

1) Select the aircraft for placement.
2) Left click on the "Res" button.
3) Click on "Yes" to complete the transfer to the reserve pool.

See picture.

Note that the pilot isn't transferred to the reserve pool if you have additional aircraft remaining to be placed available. For example, if you have 8 CVP and only 4 pilots for them, then sending one of the CVP to the reserve pool only send the CVP and not the pilot. You then will have 7 CVP remaining, and 4 pilots.

Edit: Note that the pilots will not be shown in the reserve pool until the next MP setup step.

Thanks Orm. Knowing this would have saved us from this mess.

Wouldn't it be easiest to just add the BPs to US and they produce, during the first production, what was destroyed?

That is how I planned to do it before talking to Ronnie. Still think it's easiest way, and safe way.

When the time comes, Denmark aligns with CW. 5 CPs to Faroes Islands, 2 ships and 1 CP to Frederikshavn.

Poland chooses assault, every time, as long as they live.

Chinese choose assaul this impulse to all attacks.

Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 5 (Axis)

Declarations of War and Alignments:
Germany

Germany allow Bulgaria's claim to South Dobruja and Hungary's claim to Transylvania

The Germans declare war on Denmark - Congress don't show any interest (a 6 is thrown).

The Danes align with the CW and the Danish naval vessels are placed as per Mayhemizer's above instruction.

Japan: Land
Germany: Land
Italy: Combined

Port Attack: None
Naval Air: None

Naval Movement: None

Strategic Bombing: None
Ground Strike: None

Rail Movement:
Japan

An SNLF unit is railed to Kaifeng

Land Movement:
Italy

Detail movements take place on the Franco-Italian border

Germany

The Germans march into Copenhagen and move on Warsaw.

Japan

The Japanese continue to position around Chengchow

Land Combat:
Japan

The Japanese announce an attack on Chengchow

Germany

The Germans launch an attack against Warsaw.

As usual I take the attacks in the order presented by program and that means the Warsaw attack is first. This is a 4:1+2 on the assault table. The attack was a 9(11) losing the Poles two units and shattering the third. The attackers remain organised.

Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 5 (Axis)

Land Combat (cont):
Japan

The attack on Chengchow is a 4:1+1 on the assault table. Throw was a 5(6) meaning that the Chinese lose 1 unit but the remaining two can't retreat and are also destroyed. All attacking units are disorganised. The Japanese march into the city but the Americans barely notice (an 8 is thrown).

S/O 39 Allied 6

No DoW

China land, others combined.

Naval move
CW send Danish ships from Denmark to North Sea box 0 and 2 TRS + CL from Liverpoool to Fredrikshavn loaded with INF HQ, MECH and INF div.

US TRS loaded with AT gun and ART to Hawaiian Islands box 0.

I have wanted to try what happens if CW commits heavy in Denmark. Once I tried it half ass, later it has not always been even possible. In this game tm.asp?m=4333300&mpage=4&key= (post 102) AllenK used 4 divisions to take every hex on North Sea coast.

Naval combat
France initiates combat in Baltic Sea.

German NAV intercepts to box 2.

Allies 4, Axis 5.

All points are used to increase damage.

1 CP sinks, 2 aborts. Do they abort to port with major fleet or somewhere else?

EDIT: Now I realized I should have send one more CL to Baltic Sea this impulse, so that I could initiate combat if Germany sends more CPs there.
