Rimini Airfield:
With the new map I was wondering if the problem with the Italian airfield in Rimini had been solved, which when occupied by the Allies turns out to be behind the German lines.

The easiest solution for us was to allow the Germans to control Rimini Airfield until the Gothic Line falls. So with the 1.04 patch it will remain behind German lines and in German control until that event.

Can I suggest creating an airport in Fano as it has historically happened?

During World War II Fano Airfield was built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a temporary wartime airfield with a hard earth or pierced steel planking (PSP) runway and parking apron. With few or no permanent structures, tents were used for ground support operations and personnel billeting. It was used as an operational airfield by the USAAF Twelfth and Fifteenth Air Forces in late 1944 and in 1945 until the end of the war.
With the withdrawal of the US forces, the facility was turned over to the local government in late 1945.

Hmm, I would need a more compelling argument. The Allies don't need any more help in this game, but they could use an incentive to break the Gothic Line.

Hi simovitch, the first argument is that, historically, Fano airfield existed and was built and used by the Allies and BtR is an historical wargame. The second argument is that in my experience an airfield as close as possible to the Gothic Line is necessary to be able to make the most of the autonomy of the fighters escorting the bombers bound for Northern Italy and the Reich and in this role the Rimini airfield was perfect. In my last Pbem 1943 Campaign my opponent attacked me continuously both on the way forward and on the way back, especially in the latter, using the many airfields in the North East of Italy. It is true that there are many Allied airfields in the South East of Italy, but these are on the one hand very far away and on the other they are much more useful for attacking the Balkans and the oil wells of Ploesti. So my proposal is not to add a new airfield for the Allies, an airfield that existed anyway, but to replace the airfield of Rimini with that of Fano, without increasing the strength of the Allies, but without weakening it, leaving the ratio of forces unchanged.

OK. Since it was built in December 1944 it should be a new Allied airfield that is activated in December 1944. I'll have to test it to see how it works and if the AI recognizes it. If it looks good it may make it to the final release patch.

Many thanks simovitch. Anyway I did a little research and found that Fano was liberated on 27 August 1944 and Rimini between 13 and 21 September 1944. So the problem with the previous version BtR was that Rimini airfield was activated too early, July or August 1944 or perhaps even earlier, now I don't remember well, when the Germans still controlled the area. So the simplest and least expensive thing to do (as you said) would be to activate Rimini airfield after september 1944 and add Fano only if you consider it useful for the game. In any case, thank you for the attention you gave me and sorry for the bother.

Fano airfield will activate in early December 1944 just southeast of Pesaro for the 12th USAAF. I tested this weekend and the AI recognizes it fine as a base and forming up point for raids from Italy.

Rimini airfield will remain Axis until after the Gothic Line collapses. Although that does not follow history, Rimini is so close to the lines that the Axis (or the AI) should not use it anyway after the Gustav Line collapses.
