Sonobuoy drop patterns

Command: Northern Inferno is a DLC for Command: Modern Operations. Set in 1975, the Cold War is omnipresent and beneath the veneer of détente the tension between the two superpowers irreversibly escalate towards the ultimate confrontation.

Sonobuoy drop patterns

Post by Darren_H_slith »

What exactly causes the ASW planes to drop sonobuoys in the patterns they do in the game? Is it purely a random "tripwire" hoping to catch a sub unaware, or is it based on a detection? I can't find anything on it in the manual or FAQ. Sometimes seems a bit wasteful.

Ok, I feel a bit foolish, but I found the issue. My nice large rectangular ASW corridor had been turned into a large irregular polygon. The triangular part near SW England, and the Irish coast was being filled with sonobuoys nowhere near my fleet. Guess I'll restart! Doh!
