AA: Highway...It's been done.

Panther Games' Highway to the Reich revolutionizes wargaming with its pausable, continuous time game play and advanced artificial intelligence. Command like a real General, under real time pressures to achieve real objectives on a real map all within the fog of war. Issue orders to your powerful AI controlled subordinates or take total control of every unit. Fight the world's most advanced AI opponent or match wits against your friends online or over a LAN. Highway to the Reich covers all four battles from Operation Market Garden, including Arnhem, Nijmegen, Eindhoven and the 30th Corps breakout from Neerpelt.

What Paul said ! Agreed 100%
Maybe someone should use the editing tools to do Crete.

Where did I hear it before ? ;)

Already working on Crete - although whether I'll pull it off successfully is another matter:).

I want to play 'Devil's Advocate' here (is that another mod for AA I hear someone ask :D ). We who love AA do so because it is not like 'traditional' wargames in that it is neither hex-based nor turn-based. But we are 'the converted' - the casual gamer looks at the screen shots, checks out the subject matter, and thinks 'just another same old same old' and moves on. I'm not sure what the answer is - maybe some cut scenes or FMVs to give a little flavour (optional of course) - but something could be done. So what does anybody else think?

As for the original game, I saw the screen shots and was thoroughly turned off.

It was only when the great Matrix got involved that I became interested.

I downloaded the demo of the original game and was quite impressed.

But I would never have bothered with this game except that the graphics are a whole lot better.

I take the view that the game’s web site must give the flavour of the game. In this case static screen shots fail to do so.

A short video would do a much better job.

Three or 4 short videos, showing off the features of the game would be the best advertisement.

Each video needs to be fairly short so that each download is not too large.

And then go to all wargaming forums – including Shrapnel Games, and shout it to the world – entice them to download the videos.

I remember being a beta tester for cc3 it was a really good game so was cc2 but very limited in its troop density I bought cc4 but was really put off by its sameness(just a diffrent setting) the close combat games really put cc series to bed in my mind I wont go back to them the aa games are very true to life battles the red devil game is very unique in this respect I mean krafts ss battalion actually means something it can do real damage an still survive(just like it did in the battle) I find that developers who can pull that off will get my business in spades...now if I can just get them to do the winter storm battles I will be in heaven:cool:

Maybe GTA or MOHAA is more your speed:rolleyes:

write a review

There is a web site I almost always check out before I buy a game , and this title is listed...........
http://www.pcgamereview.com/
it’s a place were gamers write the reviews , average joes like me and you.
Anyway it would be nice if some one would let the site know
when this game starts to ship.
And then a few of us should take the time to write a good well reasoned review , might help get the word out.........

I have played the old demo and am looking forward to the
new game... now that it has a little more to offer.

lastly.....does anyone know if this game will be a (buy online only) or will the title be in the local stores too ........

Normandy has "been done" umpteen times. So has the Korsun Pocket come to that. And Kursk. And the Bulge. And... you get the picture. WW2 had only so many battles - designers pick those likely to create exciting, evenly matched games. And when was CC2 released.. not exactly a few weeks ago, was it ?

Airborne Assault is probably the best computer game I've ever played, I have no reason to doubt the expanded version will be better. Why not go away, get your hands on a copy of AA, play for a while, then come back and post something vaguely sensible ?
