Thanks for your explanation. I just found the site where I can download RDAA and will give it a try. Who knows' I might just buy it before HTTR is released;) thanks again.

Ok guys. We released another final candidate build on Tuesday night. This includes a swag of revised and new Arnhem scenarios plus Unit Type filters for the interface. Now with a keystroke, you can display just your artillery or just your HQs or just those units you have given orders too etc.

Our intrepid beta testers, the Panther Prowlers, have since found a couple of bugs. Paul has stomped on one and should deal with the other very soon.

Main focus at the moment is on play balancing scenarios and on completing the manuals. The Tutorial and Reference manuals are done. The ScenMaker is half done. MapMaker manual yet to do. It's going to be tight to make our end of month target date for going gold, but we're giving it our best shot.

music, hmmmm

Post by Dutchguy »

may I suggest 'the Arnhem-march' as played by the band of the parachute regiment?

No, no music, give me faint machinegun riddles, vague explosions and firefights in the distance, plains overhead.

And maybe it's an idea to give eacht unit it's own sound. Para company on the move in a road collumn: marching sounds/talking etc. German armoured unit on the move: sounds of tracks, engines etc. And the same with assault, defend etc(shouting/shooting/explosions). Artillery/mortar units with the sound of their guns ('plop' sounds with mortars?)

And offcourse if you click on 1st Brit Airborne HQ, the sound of pens scratching across paper, typewriters;)

Maybe this idea is too difficult too put into the game but I know I would like it!

Progress Update Build 68

Post by Arjuna »

Guz wrote:Release date: Sept. 17th...........;)
Sorry Guz, but it ain't going to happen on that day, unless a miracle occurs.

We put out Build 68 last night ( or should I say this morning ;) ). This included the new ScenMaker Manual. The ScenMaker application got a fairly comprehensive facelift. It's now a much more polished piece of software.

Apart from streamlining the interface we have added tools to assist in globally modifying unit values. These make it much easier to select a group of units and set their values within a preset variation. For example to set the strength of a group of units, you simply select the group on the map, set the variation from the Unit menu to say +/- 10% and then select the mean strength rating from the Unit menu to say 80%. This will randomly spread the strength values of the selected units between 70% and 90%. You can do the same to Commander values as well. Too easy.

Still to do is a modest facelift for the MapMaker plus the MapMaker manual. We're also waiting on the Intro movie. These should be ready for a final build next Tuesday ( touch wood ) :)

So we're nearly there. Hang on. On current progress we should go gold by the operation's starting anniversary on the 17th of September and ship a few weeks later.

Build 69 - Is this it?

Post by Arjuna »

Hi all,

In the wee hours of this morning we put out build 69 for testing. We hope this will be the big one, THE final candidate. If our beta testers give it the thumbs up then it will become the gold master and we can sign off to Matrix for manufacture and shipping.

In this build we have given the MapMaker a facelift. it's looking very profesional and slick now. The draft MapMaker Manual, the last of the manuals, is now done. All manuals should be finalised next week. We have made some minor tweaks to the ScenMaker and Game. Golf33 has made mods to the Arnhem Coup and Deelen campaign scenarios. He's added a reduced Pz Lehr Div as an optional reinforcement.

So, touch wood, things are well on track for going gold by the anniversary of op Market Garden on the 17th.

The future of wargaming is coming to you real soon. :D

Build 70 RC2

Post by Arjuna »

Our intrepid beta testers have been very effective this last week, discovering a bug in the crossings code. We've fixed this and a few other very minor changes and have now released another build #70 Release Candidate 2 for further testing. All manuals are now finished - some 300 draft pages - and are on their way to Matrix for typesetting. We are still to finalise the Intro movie. Hopefully this will be wrapped up next week in time for our beta testers to give the thumbs up. In which case HTTR will go gold. :)

Updated Update

Post by HitMan52 »

Arjuna wrote:Hi all,

Development and testing have progresed well. Paul should crush the last known bug this weekend and I should finish off the Reference Manual too. We plan to put out another final candidate build ( #66 ) next Tuesday. This will have everything completed, except for our Intro movie and the MapMaker and ScenMaker manuals. The game is very stable and looking great. It will be tight, but I reckon we can still go gold by the end of August, with a release at the end of September. Hooray!! :)
Greetings,

Any chance for a more current update. Its been about a month since the last one was posted.

Dave,

Thanks for the update.
A new bug found and smashed. Congrats to the testers. A programming principle come to mind : "A successfull test finds an error."

I just hope you still have your automated tests in order to be sure you didn't screw everything with your "few other very minor changes ".

Cheers,

Well as I read this I'm looking at the reports of last night's auto-testing and note yet another bug. Blast. Hopefully, one that we'll crush today.

Great to hear. Has any decision been made regarding the trade-in deal for those of us who preiously had purchased RDOA?
