No Prob. Steve.
The biggest thing that would throw off a newbie is the missing custom files, which need to be moved manually from Programs to My Documents. Otherwise, they will never know they are missing.

RE: Dumb Question(s)
Yet I noticed that you didn't mention this from here:Hmm...no problem with that on Steam.
tm.asp?m=4564492
we have decided to establish identical folder structures for the Matrix and Steam versions.
So while the steam version may work while the Matrix version does not, the issue is a result of the developers having to provide two versions in order to cater to steam. Doing so has broken the Matrix version.
Who has an agenda now ? And thanks again steam [>:]
RE: Dumb Question(s)
No. It was because Microsoft's OS insisted certain files not reside on the system drive that caused the necessity of separating the files in the first place. It was the introduction of Steam that showed a way around that. It was a programming error that caused the bug, not any systematic error. Your personal issue is becoming an obsession.

RE: Dumb Question(s)
If improving TOAW [and any other game] is an obsession, I am happily guilty. There is no reason for you to attack me for it. Attack my facts if they are in error.
We didn't need steam to show a way around the new file structure, it worked fine for several years. It was the recent integration of steam into the current file system that screwed everything up. Steam has to have it a certain way, therefore the non-steamers must suffer. This can't be defended, period. You might as well stop trying. You certainly won't stop me from warning people when they ask about it, and I will also continue to point out the source of the problem when people report issues.

RE: Dumb Question(s)
Your guilty of obsessively whining over Ralph and company trying to increase the sales of TOAW by selling it on Steam. That's the long and short of it. Nothing more to say. You can whine and cry and throw temper tantrums all you want. You've made it very clear you are out to destroy TOAW on Steam because you are mad about dev time spent to increase sales through Steam. It's a done deal and as Bob said has drawn in people who never would have known about the game.
You somehow think that is a bad thing. [:-]

I can't recall what TOAW ME stands for, I think something like "" Edition, but forgot.
Never mind, I answered my own dumb question with a little google:

Hard to believe, that I've got them all ... somewhere ... on some disks or HD somewhere.
Let me know if you'd like to play a PBEM game in TOAW4!!!
I really did not get into it until ACOW, but I have been finding lately all my manuals from TOAW I days! Good times!!!

Ok, so now that you have me established, and you are established as bashing me for presenting the facts that people ask for, I hope you and I are done. Suggest that from now on when I speak up concerning the negative aspects of using steam that if you are compelled to answer you speak up with the positive facts as you see them. No need to continue attacking me personally with inaccurate statements.

More Dumb Questions:
So per 7.14 I understand how the support for HQ and Arty works, but for Air could someone give me a little help on the green, yellow and white? I did not seem to find it in the manual.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks again. Man this is like an old friend...

RE: Dumb Question(s)
I looked around and finally found the place where you can change the colors to mean what you want them to mean. I've changed a couple of them dealing with my arty and there's a lot of them you can change.

RE: Dumb Question(s)
Rings are only for selected units so the air unit is the only unit to consider.
At least I can conform that the inner one(green/red) is for AS but is also shown when I select sea interdiction.
Aqua is the range set on the unit panel.
Yellow seem to be max range of the unit for combat support, but if rane is set lower the line will not be yellow but black/white.

Okay, I think I got it figured out with the help of both Larry and BigDuke and the actual settings. So this is the deal for range band colors:
This is the in game defaults for range bands and what they mean:

For this particular scenario for this Air Unit, this is what the colors mean:

If attacking = stating fact then I'm guilty. I will support any truthful statement you make regardless your (not you're [:D]) views about anything else. That's how I am.
And yes, Zovs' thread has been hijacked enough. See, I've agreed with you. [;)]

RE: Dumb Question(s)
Okay, I am "sort of new here" but can you two guys drop the whole Steam thing please?
I made my decision and I won't install it, don't need it end of story and thanks for the replies about it. But I have moved on and want to focus more on my dumb questions as I get reacquired with the game.
Thanks in advance.
