My $0.02 CAD. He mostly leaves out the successful Royal Navy blockades of both World Wars, perhaps because of all of the violations of International Law by the British in blockading neutrals and contraband selection. Odd too that he also fails to mention the mining offensive by the USN against Haiphong that helped to bring the Paris Peace Talks to a successful conclusion (for the USA not the RVN) in 1972. Mines of course are a time-honoured tool of the blockader. By omitting the prospect of offensive mining as a barrier to trade I found the opinion piece incomplete since the author's intention was to spin bits of history into a contemporary anti-China situation.
