Global identifiers for campaigns

Post by AngrySwan »

Since we already have quite a few campaigns, it is time to start thinking about their numbers.
As far as I know, identifiers are either ''main[number]'' or ''add[number]'' for stock campaigns.

The editor also allows making custom campaigns, the identifier for them is ''MyCampaign[number]''
As far as I know, a campaign can have any number as long as it does not have the same number as a stock campaign, then it will not show in the menu.
MyCampaign1, 2, 3 etc.

(may be useful in case someone wants to make a campaign and wonders what a global identifier is)

Hi AngrySwan,

yes, each campaign has to have a unique number that differs from any other to be seen. Honestly i have not experimented a lot with this, so i do not know if they also have to be successive or if you can choose any number like 34 etc. as long as its different. I always chose the next number available.

As long as this does not cause a crash, it only matters if your campaign should be included in a release as i like a certain order of things.

Hi Ronald,

Choosing the next number available is the best idea if you include something in the game.
For the development versions played from the Campaigns folder, I use

- MyCampaign1 for the new 1941,
- MyCampaign2 for the small 1941-1942 campaign (Barbarossa + Blau)
- MyCampaign3 for the Romanian mini-campaign (built but not tested)

The ''add'' campaigns use identifiers 1 to 3 and Arkhangelsk - Astrakhan is main1. I have no idea what the other main identifiers are.
