Be very careful with the soviet missile boats, Styx severy outrange Penguins (25nm vs 15nm).

I found the best tactic to me is employing air assets against MTBs and your own boats to take out the amphibs.

Be very careful with the soviet missile boats,

Very true. You really need to be cagey with your Norgi boats or they will be feeding fish before you can blink. But in the right circumstances they will be the ones to survive.

Ancalagon and Bart,

Thanks for this info. Looking at the difference between the Styx and Penguin, that is quite a range difference. I think that your suggested approach makes sense to me.

Have a good day,
Mike

Go to "Map Settings" then "Switch to GROUP view" or V+ "Page Up" (Numeral 9) That will combine them as a group, and you can then set couse and speed using the Unit Order menu. Be advised, if you do, then if the units try to maintain formation, they may go above cavitation speed and make a lot of noise.

Also to amend a formation - go to F4 you can then adjust where your ships are relative to the lead ship.

You need to watch your doctrine to keep a grip on your forces reaction. Things like auto evade, engage opportunity targets and ROE will have a big effect on how they react.

You're best to use the radar shadow along the coast where ever you can but I note that most of your boats start well out to sea already.

Try to time your air strike and missile boat attack to support each other as well.

This is tough positioning for your boats so it is going to be bloody.

Happy Mother's Day,

I tried this again, using groups to move the four naval squadrons - this worked great.

I discovered a bunch of landing craft and damaged a couple of them, but was not able to sink any of them.

This is the situation just before everything got really busy!

I've come up with another approach and will try it soon.

Trying again - more to figure out things than to worry about the result. I'm still learning, and having fun.

Careful with the fighters on patrol. F-5 have fairly short legs and if you put them on the air to soon, you could found them RTBing due to empty tanks just when the fight starts.

I wouldn't put them in the air until just after you found your first SKUNK contact.
