Barents Sea Boomers
I only have two subs to control - this is going to be interesting.

Good point, I will try to leave the HMS Warspite and the Swiftsure alone.

You may want to make some planning assumptions to narrow down your statement that the SSBNs could be anywhere. If they were at the two Datum points 12 hrs ago, you need to ask yourself a couple questions:
-what speed will the be traveling
-what are they going to be trying to do
I think it is safe to assume that they will be trying to hide and therefore go slow <5knts
So @5knts over 12 hours they will be a maximum of 60nm from the datum points.
Draw yourself a circle of RPs to mark that limit and you will be able to narrow your search to that area. Add 5 knt to the circle every hour that passes.
You should be able to draw conclusions on depth as well.
Hope that helps.

Bart,
Very good point. I will add that to my plan.
Thanks!

Sounds like you caught the contacts in you CZ and a combination of your and their movement means they exit the detection zone of the CZ.
A good tactic if you can afford the time is to keep the contact in the CZ by adjusting your movement, then close on the contact with your other sub. Very time consuming but keeps you with the upper hand for information.

RE: Barents Sea Boomers
Great write up.
I have played this scenario more than half dozen times recently. This was my first venture into subs in Command (I'm new player)
First few times it was sudden death for me via torpedoes.
Eventually I did find and destroyed all required Soviet subs. Last time I played I went after Soviet ships and sunk 12 of them then run out of Mk48's [8|]
Got major victory for that one even though IMHO it should not have been a victory as I failed the primary mission.
Overall interesting scenario even if there are only two units.

Dragnaath,
I'm glad you are enjoying the write up. It helps me think through the problems as I play.
I thought about the idea of taking out all the Soviet ships - as that sounds like fun. I may try that next time.
I'm pretty new to this game too. I'm enjoying the game and the forum. As an army guy, it is a challenge to try and fight navy and air battles, they are so different than land battles.
Have a good day,
