Minor flare rebalancing?

Post by Sleeping_Dragon »

I almost hate to bring this up since game balance issues can tend to raise the hairs on folks necks, but.....

I notice when I'm designing titans that I can almost always scrape up a half ton from somewhere to add sm flares to a large percentages of the titans I design, if I don't its a good chance I did't have a free internal to put them in. The -30 mod. is worth the 1/2 ton. On the other hand I stay clear of the larger flares since they tend to eat up more wieght and more importantly internal slots then the improved mods justify.

Changing weights on flares is definatly too big a pain since someone whould have to go through the database to make all the titans can handle the new weights, not to mention everyones individual designs.

What I'd suggest is changing the mods, while it probably wouldn't stop me with the "everyone gets a 1/2 ton flare" syndrome; it would reduce some of the frustration of the GM jocks claiming every titan that they fire at, half the missles go chasing after flares.

Current mods are from smallest flare to largest: -30,-35,-40,-45,-50,-55

I'd propose the following mods: -20,-25,-35,-40,-50,-55

The reasons I propose this progression:
Basically I took the same 5% progression and modified it down so that there is a 10% jump everytime an addition internal slot is used. May even consider making lvl 1 -15 just cause it's only a 1/2 ton.

What does everyone else think?

Flares *should* be installed in every titan. Since they don't modifiy to hit your suggested 15% flares would rarely defelect anything. GMH titans still can pick their targets and I found that there is enough prey in bigger battles which is without flares.

The mod is a deflection % for each individual missle right? (making sure I have this straight)

15 may be low even for 1/2 ton... but isn't 30 a little too good? that's roughly 1 missle in 3 missing cause of a half ton piece of equipment. Maybe I'm looking at this wrong.

Yes, its deflection for each missile. I think 30 is ok but have no problem changing it if there is a majority of veterans is voting for different values.

Flares are fine. Play more battles and you'll see.

Duration also increases with quality.
