Error after installing 2.,02

After a successful install of v1.01 and opening of that version of the games, am getting an error when I try to start any of the games after I install the v2.02 patch:
[ERROR ID 102] (misc.cpp, line 1776, logit()) frontend.log file open error

I also notice that in the control panel, to uninstall, it still lists v1.01; however, when I click on update in the splashscreen, it says I have the most up to date version installed

I've tried a complete reinstall, install to a new location, etc., etc.
I did also have the side-by-side error regarding C++ 2008, and got that fixed, but while the initial splashscreen opens, the games themselves will not.

Also of note:
- When first installing the v2.02 patch, I still had the splashscreen open and it paused because some files were still open. It asked if I wanted to install those files after a restart, so I said yes, and restarted the laptop accordingly once everything else was finished. Maybe that's the problem?
- Despite deleting all originally installed games files, after a fresh install, in a different location, the game still remembers my previous settings regarding unit the window and display settings like hex outlines

Help please! Was so looking forward to the upgraded features!

I appear to have finally answered my own question here, after a couple of hours rummaging around in these forums! [:'(]. So much so, that I can't even remember now who suggested using the compatibility for Win7 but with supreme thanks to whoever you are [&o][&o]
For anyone else who might, yet still come across this later:
- Create shortcuts of the .exe files for each game (forget about the desktop, 'Menu' icon; the games won't run from there; although The Game manual and other links still should). You need to create the shortcuts, coz the .exe file, right-click menu may not have the compatibility tab in it.
- Right click on each shortcut and go to the 'Compatibility' tab
- Change:
> Select 'Run as Administrator'
> Change compatibility to Win7 (Yes, even though it's on a Win10 machine!)

There were also suggestions about changing the GPI settings, but I found that to be unnecessary. Plus, if you do change that as they instruct, you may find the game graphics and icons have shrunk to the point you need a magnifying glass!
