RE: Slow Performance?
I have to confess - I am a slow performer. I have all the right switches but only reached January 1,1942 twice versus AI. Remember, remember , the clusterf*** of December.
RE: Slow Performance?
In my case -multiaudio resolved the issue. For resolution you need values greater than 1024x768, or those switches does not work at all.ORIGINAL: Bif1961
I am having trouble with the glacier pace of my scroll speed and response time to clicking on a selction device. I have made the changes suggested above -cpu2 or 3 -altFont, -deepColor -w and changing the resolution size to match my video card of -px1366 -py768. Nothing has improved performance.Does anyone have any other suggestions. I am running the 1124 patch.

RE: Slow Performance?
Never had any problem with scrolling but I've found that I need -SingleCpuOrders and -dd_sw or the game loads very slowly. I also use -multiaudio because it makes the interface more responsive. I need -deepColor for fullscreen or I'll get an error message and the game won't start. I don't need that switch for windowed mode.
I've also solved the "jumping animation" in windowed mode. Just make sure your picture fits inside the "window frame". For example, if you have a 1920x1080 monitor, and you set window to "-px1920 -py1080", you will get the jumping animation because the picture couldn't fit within the window frame. Remember that your actual window is *smaller* than 1920x1080.
I set picture size to "-pxf1916 -pyf1046". You need "pxf" because that isn't a standard resolution and needs to be forced. Also never "maximize" your window or you will get the jumping animation no matter your window size.

RE: Slow Performance?
Thanks for your help I fixed it by taking my new windows 10 laptop back and got my old laptop with windows 7 working again.
RE: Slow Performance?
Thank you so much for your information.
I recently upgraded my computer and it has Win 10. I was running the game on the old computer Win8. I assumed that my new faster computer would run the game as well or better than the old until I tried it. Boy was I disappointed.
If it wasn't for the folks like you I don't know what I would have done.
This forum has never failed to amaze me and I am so grateful.

I'm using an Intel i7-8700k paired a RTX2070, and Windows 10 home (64 bit). This command line is working perfectly:
"E:\Games\Matrix Games\WitP-AE\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -px2560 -py1080 -cpu7 -f -deepColor -archive
"E:\Games\Matrix Games\WitP-AE\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -px2560 -py1080 -cpu7 -f -deepColor -archive

RE: Slow Performance?
I really appreciate all the help. I have gone through ever property I can find and I cannot find the spot to change the switches.
Where is it?
Where is it?
RE: Slow Performance?
You need to make a shortcut of the exe and then right click it, go to Properties, go to the "Target" box where you should find your location for your exe already typed out. Add the switches in the box after this. For instance, mine looks like this:
"C:\Users\SK\Desktop\Allies Game\Reluctant Admiral\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -archive -deepColor -px1920 -py1080 -skipVideo -SingleCpuOrders -dd_sw -w
"C:\Users\SK\Desktop\Allies Game\Reluctant Admiral\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -archive -deepColor -px1920 -py1080 -skipVideo -SingleCpuOrders -dd_sw -w

RE: Slow Performance?
I decided to get back into this game after several years away. I bought and downloaded the game from Matrix. My game is extremely slow, takes several seconds to switch locations on the map or to call up units. I have tried the tricks on this thread to no improvement. I have to say it is extremely frustrating to spend $75 on a game that is basically unplayable without being an IT specialist to get it working
RE: Slow Performance?
What a waste of money this was.
RE: Slow Performance?
You probably only need -deepColor and -dd_sw as your shortcuts. The rest is just window dressing.

Yes, getting it to run properly can be frustrating. Fortunately there is an easy fix. Install the "Seabee" utility and it will solve those problems.

"Tell us what to do... tell us how to fix you."
RE: Slow Performance?
Clueless, you say?
I spend $75 on a game. That is a decent sum of money. I expect it be playable.
I download the game and it is just not playable. It is sluggish to the point of being pointless.
Why would Matrix, or any company for that matter, sell a product that doesn't work or make it's own download fix compatibility issues?
So I come to the forum and while everyone is helpful and friendly, the solutions don't work. I am asked to "write code" (for lack of a better description) to correct the problem. I'm sorry but I should not have to know what cpu my laptop is(?) has(?) uses (?) or color card or whatever to play a game. These are fixes that should be incorporated into the download.
I tried the SeeBee utility and again, I am not an IT specialist, so I dont know what options to pick.
I'm sorry but to me this purchase is a waste of money since I (a) can't play it and (b) can't fix the problem.

RE: Slow Performance?
In all seriousness, if you aren't patient enough to spend a little time on getting the game to work correctly, this is definitely NOT the sort of game you'll enjoy. I had to play short scenarios for months before the mechanics of the game finally started to "click". Put in the time, and this is the sort of game that will pay you back with a decade or more of enjoyment. But it's not for everyone.
RE: Slow Performance?
well, you see, this game is for me, evident by the fact that I played it solid for around 2 years several years ago (on a previous laptop). I played the Japanese all the way to September 46 as I recall. So I have no problem with the patience. I do have a problem with a game that doesn't work, despite repeated efforts at getting it to work.
RE: Slow Performance?
We all started out as you have, with getting the game and thinking we can install it because we have done so with other programs without problems. But getting this game to run is like buying an old airplane that barely runs and having to take parts from other aircraft to try and make it hum. You can either do endless experimentation of your own or study the threads here in the Tech forum that refer to installation problems, display problems and slow running issues.ORIGINAL: Pkenny

I went with the latter choice and read the threads at the time until I understood what they were talking about and then started doing what other players did to fix problems similar to mine. Then I experimented with a few switch changes and settings in Windows to get it to run best on my specific combination of PC, Video Card, and Windows version. When Win 10 was forced on me I had to study some more and change a lot of things in my switches but it was worth it to get it running well again.
Now there is the SeaBee program to walk you through the process but you should still read the threads to understand what the switches do so you can make choices that suit you. If, after you have done some research and tried a few things, you still have problem, take screenshots and post them here to get specific help. Good luck!
