Downloading Scenarios

Post by aotino »

I'm new to the game and trying to get fully loaded. Am having a darn time trying to download the files from the CMANO:Community Scenario Pack - Download Jan 5, 2019 Version. I put it into my Scenario File in my Command File on my computer, but it doesn't show up in my game when I open it (assuming its in the Individual Scenario Files). They've been unzipped. Why am I not getting these scenarios? I would think downloading on Command should be an automatic thing. Instead its not very intuitive and seems to require a lot of technical savvy just to get scenarios loaded up, but perhaps I'm just missing some basic step. Thanks for any guidance.

Did you unzip the pack into the Scenario folder. It useful to ensure that it goes into its own sub-folder so you can refresh it when updated ones come out.

The Community Pack is from the community, and not part of Warefare Sims bundle.

Yes I did unzip it into the scenario folder. I tried a few times, but when I get back from work today I'll try again.[&:]

aotino, as Michael says, try to create a new folder (for example "Community scenarios") into the "Scenarios" folder and unzip the downloaded scenarios pack into this new "Community scenarios" folder.

Can the Steam Workshop scenarios be used in a non steam version of Command?

Thanks Michaelm75au and Mikkey for your posts.
When I got back from work today, I opened up the Scenario File in my Command Game and created a folder I named Community Scenarios. Before I downloaded and unzipped the Download of scenarios from the Forum, I opened the game just to check to see if my folder appeared. It did not. So now I'm completely perplexed. I'm fairly savvy as to files and folders in these games, having spent many years in Harpoon play. So I'm really not understanding why it isn't showing in my game file, when I personally created a folder in the Scenario Folder of the game. Help!! I need your expertise.

I would add one helpful thing to this. I name my community scenario directory to include the version number of the scenario pack. That way I don't have to remember when there is some new announcement - "did I already download that one"

Create the folder again, and make sure you are in the correct folder for Command. Sometimes the default is not where it should be - it could be in 'My Documents' or such. Command will only look in the game folder for its own sub-folders.

Thanks Michael. I'll try that tonight when I get back from work and let you know.

I don't know. This is a mystery. The only place I can find the Command Game is in my Program Files under Matrix Games, where the file is called "Command Wargame of the Year Edition". In that I went to the Scenarios File, and that's where I created the Community Scenarios folder into which I downloaded the new scenarios. Ugh, this is frustrating.

Ah. If it it is 'Program Files', then you may need to 'Run as Admin..' depending on your version of Windows. You may need admin rights to write into that folder.
I installed my Command into c:\Matrix Games to get around that issue.

Okay. I think the thing for me to do is to uninstall the game and reinstall it, not in program files, but in the Matrix Games folder I already have in my C:Drive. Let me try that. Once again, thanks for the tips.
