I thought you Scots were good at counting the cutlery before guests leave.![]()
I read it through entirely just to be sure, but just the title placed it clearly in political territory. Sorry.ORIGINAL: demyansk
Hi pip, that wasn't a bad article? Just an article on the education process
I have a Theorem that when drawing socks one-at-a-time blindly, I will always draw mismatches until all the mismatches are exhausted. If I could only get funding to prove this! It would be a great step towards solving the P vs. NP problem.ORIGINAL: typhoon
I would suggest that the money spent on the teaspoons would have been better spent investigating socks. I cannot be the only person to suffer from only ever having odd socks available in the draw or that single unloved sock all alone and despairing.

Is that research all made up BS then, or does it have some validity?ORIGINAL: Agathosdaimon
i showed my wife this who works in academia and she automatically recognised it as a joke

well my wife says the study actually would have been really carried out after looking over its method, but that really there was still not much more to it than staff buying some spoons and marking them and that this would likely have just been a spare time bit of fun - apparently there are researchers out there for who things like this - doing studies and applying scientific rigour is their idea of fun - i know my wife finds math anre excel a lot more fun than i ever will, - but then she sees me playing turnbased wargame and thinks its the most boring thing in the world and cannot understand why i would ever play such a thing.
