Add Withdrawing dates.

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Add Withdrawing dates.

Post by xhoel »

Can we please get withdrawing dates for both air groups as well as units to show on the screen? This would help a lot since it would save players time from going through the withdrawal screen and would avoid all the click fest that comes with it.

Here is example 1:

Turn 31 in the GC. IV./KG 53 is set to withdraw on turn 32. There is absolutely no indication of this anywhere on the screen or on the map (like it is with ground units) and unless you go through the withdrawing list and note everything down, you would not even notice that this is going to happen. Please add withdrawal dates like the ones that exist in WitE and make this process easier for the players.

Thank You!

Hi Xhoel,

I assume you know that just hitting the letter "i" in WitW will bring up the reinforcements and withdrawals screen as you show in your screenshot, with the upcoming turn at the top of the list. I do this at the beginning of every turn, to see what ground units I received, and also to swap out the aircraft on any withdrawing air groups if they have an aircraft model that I like and that is in short supply.

Did I misunderstand your post?

Cary

Hey Cary,

Yes it seems that you did misunderstand my post. I know that you can see the withdrawal dates on the screen in that way. I am saying that it would be nice if you could see the withdrawal date in the unit screen, the way it is in WitE. For reference im adding two pics to show what I mean:

Withdrawal date on unit screen, which makes it much easier to understand which groups are leaving:

Hi Xhoel,

OK, thanks for explaining. Having communicated with you in the past, I was pretty sure you were aware of what I was talking about in the game.

I agree these would be good features to add. Unfortunately with the WitE2 code branch from the WitW code base, we won't get all the new features that they put into WitE2.

I hope they add them at some point. These features are from WitE not WitE2 just to clarify. And WitE and WitW have a different code too, I think but it would still be nice to have the features that are present in WitE. In many aspects (especially small things like this) WitE is better than both WitW and WitE2.

Cheers!
