Reformation

Post by Uxbridge »

This is in the manual, modding section:

The Reformation area signifies whether or not the unit can be rebuilt if
it is destroyed. If the button is ticked, then it can be rebuilt but only if it was
destroyed when it had a Minimum Supply value that was at least as high as
the number set in the Min Supply box.
The cost to rebuild the unit after its destruction is the % Reformation
Cost, as a % of the unit’s base cost in MPPs. The % Reformation Delay
dictates the time it will take from paying the MPPs for its reformation and
it arriving for deployment, as a % of the time it would take to create a new
unit of this type.

Is this how it actually works? Maybe it is, I have only never experienced any of it in-game. And if it works – how? Is the next unit of the destroyed type manufactured cheaper and faster to build? Or is there some for me hithereto unknown button to be pressed in order to see destroyed units? Very lost here. [&:]

I figured it out myself. Oddly enough, as many times before, the answer came to me just before falling asleep. I just woke up for a moment again, knowing how it probably worked. Checking it this morning, yep, there it was. Embarrasing that I have played the game for so long without noticing, but now that I know, I remember sometimes being surprised when I check the cost of something, thinking 'good, then I can have two of those', only to discover after buying the first that my "money" ran out before the second. Anyhow ...

As a suggestion for a future patch, wouldn't it be great if the destroyed unit was attached to an HQ at the time of destruction, and, as a result, the respawn of the unit could be made (as a choice) close to that HQ instead of in the homeland, half a globe away??

I've used this in my naval mods. The Screen Task Force, Recon Task Force and Wolf Packs are cheap and fast to rebuild. This reflects the fact that hundreds of subs, dds and many cls were lost compared to a handful of capital ships.

Yes, as soon as I figured it out, I did some changes to Chinese units and so on.
