My next wargame

Post by CCB »

i just ordered Critical Hit's Combat! DDay Rangers game.

http://criticalhit.com/RangDSPg.html

If its as good as they say, and it probably is, then my order for Scottish Corridor will quickly follow.

http://criticalhit.com/ScotDSPg.html

I'll write an 'amatuer' review after I've played its five scenarios (perhaps even during) in October or so.

Perhaps you can play Les in a game and we can get an AAR from both sides :)

Sorry guys personal bias limits me here. I will play CCB a game of Hearts of Iron before I will entertain playing anything put out by Critical Hit.

Its not their games, its the company. Don't like them.

Considering the %&#@storm they unleashed against GMT Games yesterday, I guarantee I'll never buy one of their games.

I must be a bit behind the times. Can someone enlighten me as to what I missed?

Thanks.

I am not privy to the GMT issue, I AM aware there is significant legal bad blood between MMP and CH though.

ASL is the genuine article.

Advanced Tobruk is basically an ASL rip off.

It is NOT "Advanced" Tobruk, it has no direct connection with "Tobruk" beyond the name of the game.

Advanced Tobruk is a scam designed to say there if we can't make your precious ASL then we will just buy a game, alter it till it might as well be ASL and sell that to people that might otherwise buy ASL.

It is the actions of a cretin.

I don't do business with cretins.

The ASL rulebook ($70!) and Beyond Valor are both required to play any ASL module. There both out of print and out of stock and have been for over a year at least. ASL is dead to new players.

Advanced Tobruk is an ASL ripoff? Well thats probably a matter for the courts, but if it is then GREAT! Not only is it cheaper, but its also available for new players! :D

Hi,

Does anyone know when the ASL rulebook is going to be reprinted, and if it is supposed to have significant changes when it does? I know where there is still one for sale, but have been reluctant to pick it up.

In a related question, I still have my old copied of Squad Leader (the originial) and the three "gamettes" that came out after it - would anyone care to give their opinion on how much the rules changed?

Thanks,

P.

MMP a small operation recently re introduced back into circulation a game that no one can say is a small undertaking.

That said, it went out of supply when a sizable number of people jumped on it suddenly in a feeding frenzy.

Regarding how much the rules changed, how about saying astronomically, yes I think that sums it up well :)

I have been watching MMP's web site and they do have ASL for pre-order. I am not sure when it will go to print, but they have 264 pre-orders, so maybe that is a good sign.

As Les mentioned, they are a small operation so I'll just be patient and wait.

While I wait I am enjoying the "Great Campaigns of the American Civil War" series, which can be played as a board game, or on VASSAL.

Here is the link for the pre-order page.

So many games, not enough time.

Go to the Consimworld message boards and search for "Critical Hit email". It happened on August 25. Warning, the whole thing is pretty disgusting and contains information you might rather not know.

Yeah, the odds of Les playing anything without the AH logo stamped on it are the same as seeing Doggie in line to get Hillary Clinton's autograph. :p

I'm starting to wonder if Les has problems with Clash of Arms these days...

I tried checking out that Consimworld babble, or rather tried to check it out, it is after all still Consimworld.

Consimworld has merit in it's own way I am sure, but their message process if like reading old law books, not at all interesting.

I saw the barest of hints that CH was embroiled in the same old mess though.

He said He said stupidity.

No direct contact with "Clash of Arms" at this time, so I wouldn't say I knew if that was a game title or a business name.

But since you mentioned it, got a link to where you would have me look to find out correctly?
