For the RAF the numbers represent actual combat ready planes availble according to a number of sources. I have no such information on the Lufwaffle side. In fact I'm finding a dearth of information of the German's OOB and locations etc..

If someone has a source that is free and fast please let me know.

Now for the Luffwaffle

Looks great!

I noticed a few typos, as it should be Tangmere and Biggin Hill.

Yeah, I saw those two, but left them because it was late when I posted this the first time in the wrong forum. [:'(]

Say Bill, While I have your attention...

1. Can you do a script for air missions? I don't think I've ever seen one. If so can you point me to an example?
2. Since there are no ground units objectives or capitals can't really be the victory conditions so I was thinking that we would have to use moral. Whoever runs out of moral first loses. Is there any way to play with the moral settings? I know the manual keeps refering to gaining or losing moral points for units lost who are below 5 supply. Is there any way to experiment with that setting?
3. Under Camnpaign/Edit Moral Data, what does "Liberate (land units)" and "Surender (Land Units)" refer to?

Thanks
Harry

Hi Harry

1. I'm afraid not.

2. National Morale is the way to go. It'll be best to have dummy DECISION events to fire Victory scripts.

Play around with the Majors' starting National Morale values, and the MPP cost for air units.

3. This refers to unit morale benefits and penalties when a country is liberated or surrenders.

1. Hummmmm. How does the AI determine what cities to strategically bomb and when? So the German AI never attempts a Battle of Britain and the US 8th and RAF randomly bomb things? There must be some rhyme or reason. Maybe we can make some targets more appealing for the AI to attack or defend.
2. Sounds good.
3. OK

Hi Harry,

1) When there are disconnected territories like in the case of the Battle of Britain scenario, i.e. no direct land connection between England and Northern France, the way to get the AI to target certain positions is to assign those positions to an AMPHIBIOUS plan. This will tell the air units which locations to consider softening up and should give you what you want. However, it will be tricky to get just right as units will want to Amphibiously load and invade.

You could try an AMPHIBIOUS MINOR plan as that will not try and load HQs or other secondary units such as AA, Artillery and so on. And you could set them to BUILD_UP lengths of 100 so they never attempt to actually invade, just load onto transports until ready. Set it to SIZE= 1 as well.

Then if the right conditions are met, and wanted an invasion, then you could cancel the plan and actually run a proper AMPHIBIOUS plan as needed.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Good information Hubert!

A few more questions, if I may...

1. Can you set an amphibious invasion site for non-ports and inland cities??
2. Will the air units start softening up 100 turns in advance?\
3. What's the best way to mess with moral so that the more settlement/air fields that are brought to 0 supply/MPPs the more morale drops dramatically?
4. What's the best way to make the loss of air units or points drop morale dramatically?
5. Would a script fire that would drop moral when certain resource hexes are zeroed out?
6. would a script fire that would drop morale when air units are lost without supply being below 5 supply?
7. can the rule of unit loss affecting morale only when below supply 5, be changed?

1. Invasion sites are only for non port towns/cities etc., and inland up to 5 hexes from the coast
2. Yes, as soon as there is a plan, even if it is build up for 100 turns
3. National morale losses for combat are tied to unit MPP purchase price, i.e. the higher they cost, and the more strength points they lose, the more overall NM is lost for that country. For combat against resources, the higher the NM value for the resource then the higher NM loss per resource strength point lost. For resources this can be edited under Country Data->Resource Values.
4. Higher MPP purchase price for air units.
5. Not that I can think of
6. Not that I can think of
7. Unit morale is always fluid and not tied into being below supply 5 unless it is I believe at strength 10 or higher/ For example, lower unit strength will have an effect on morale as strength should be a factor as well.

Closing in on the Beta. A few challenges remain with one being that if I set the bombers strikes to 1, they only attack once per turn. If I set it to two they attack up to 4 times?!???! Way too many attacks are occuring or way too few.

Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?

Hi Harry

Sorry, I must have missed your previous post about the bomber strikes.

Could there be an Automatic Research category that is somehow boosting up their strikes?

It certainly shouldn't be the case that increasing the strikes alone should have the effect of quadrupling their strikes (Maritime Bombers and others in the official campaigns would also be affected if that were the case).

If you can't see anything I'd be happy to look at the campaign.

Bill

I've looked at the Automatic Research and it is set to 0, plus it's the first turn and the scenario starts in July 1940. I don't see how it could increase on turn one. I'll post it as a pre-beta. It would be great if you took a look at it Bill. Thanks
Link Here and Below

This scenario has the Germans using Drop Tanks for 109s and only the Medium bombers have 2 strikes, with no automatic increases that I can find. The Tac Bombers should have one strike as should the strategic bombers. Medium bomber should have two strikes but attack 4 times per turn. I'm still tweeking the National Moral but that is just trial and error at this point. Both sides reach 0 when playing AI vs AI within the historic time frame.

I modified the Dreadnaught to mimic a radar station to give the RAF more Land Spotting range and another target for the Germans to try and destroy thus decreasing the RAF moral. Its all about destroying units and facilities to decrease national moral.

Let me know your thoughts on how to improve the mechanics of the scenario.

Hi Harry

What level of Aerial Warfare do the Germans have when you're playtesting?

They seem to start at zero in the file I've downloaded which surprised me, but the cgn file included is called WW2 20KMS V1.02.cgn, whereas I was expecting it to be BOB Drop Tanks.

This is my second try at adding this link. Something is not right today.

Sorry Bill that was the wrong .cgn file. Surprised it worked. Correct files are below and I used MediaFire this time.

Figured out a way to semi-mimic the Chain Home Radar system. This was a major advantage for the RAF.

I modified the good old Dreadnaught unit and made it a radar station by increasing the spotting range of the unit to 6 hexes. Then I made them stationary. They see into France about the same distance as the Chain Home System.

Nifty thing is they can be put out of commission by attacking them with Tactical and Medium bombers. In game terms they are sunk. This makes it possible to put the radar system out of commission and damages the British National Morale at the same time.

I've also changed a few of the port resource hexes to radar station symbols to give the Strategic Bombers a target in the same hex and to provide MMPs to the Brits. It's working out well so far.

Two Scenarios, one trying to give players the same choices as historic, two an alternate history with Germans using Drop Tanks on 109s, which they historically had the technology available but chose not to use it. Tanks add 400 miles to range and the RAF is in deep DooDoo with no place to hide. If you want a challenge try this one soon.
