On the last air action, I have a vision of two planes playing a game of chicken, neither swerves, and they crash head on into each other. The German pilot was smarter, though; he bailed out before the collision. [:)]
I thought I knew how to play this game....

Turn 30. July/August 1944.

Initiative.

Image

Of course, the Germans did benefit from making a 20% end-of-turn roll in M/J 44. Although we all know we should not connect one dice result to another, the previous lucky e-o-t roll makes this loss of the initiative roll feel a little less surprising.

By 1944, there are so many die rolls that luck evens out fairly clearly for each side more rapidly than earlier in the war. So the Germans had to pause and wait for the Allies ... who then proceeded to flub a long string of ground strike and air combat rolls, leading to no attacks in France and a bad attack on Kiev forcing the Soviets to dip into Zhukov's logistical stocks far earlier in the summer offensive than had been planned.

Just curious - what is in the USMC stack in Canton?
