Need help from Matrix to get KP to run

Let me start off saying how much I enjoy UV and TAO2, never had any problems with them.
But trying to get KP to work on my home pc and my laptop is giving me fits.
Tried 3 different uninstalls/ installs on laptop, and constantly get the error "This program won't start without original cd in drive" I have tried every combination to get it to run but no dice.
Installed it ok on my home pc, but the yellow writing in the menus is just about unreadable, anyway to improve this? Also I have read of problems with Nvidia drivers which is what I own. Is this the culprit?

Laptop : compaq450mgz,win98se,128ram, rage mobility video, all updated

home pc: Gateway 330mzg, win98se, 160ram, nvidia, updated.

If it won't run on these systems will patch be produced, or can we get refund from Matrix?
