By the way, General Eisenhower and Field Marshall Montgomery send their apologies to Field Marshall Brian on the unacceptable "cooperation" between the American and British forces on the Western Front. They know it's a cause of friction but at this point the American and British forces are so intertwined that it's hard to make American or British only attacks. [:)]

Well the tangled chains of command are lowering the German casualties in every battle, or at least every mixed battle...I’m sure Patton blames it on slow pursuit by the British. But then since he stopped Guderian cold he certainly earned his promotion to Army Group Commander next month. I guess Heinz can’t figure out American tankers any better than he could the Paras and the National Guard in southern France.

The combined forces could have manned up and assaulted the von Leeb HQ in the Central Massif and with any luck (8+ on the dice maybe) would have subsequently been able to roll up the four unit Panzer Armee on the plains below with zero risk before they can now easily be re-supplied. Patton would have sent in the cavalry on point, but he was still busy chasing Guderian to the west.

IJA. Northern China. Korea. End of Impulse. No Combat. A general retreat, which doesn't sit well with IJA mid-level commanders, has been ordered for all Japanese armies in Northern China. They are to redeploy to the coast, Korea and Manchuria. The Sea of Japan will now become the primary supply and transport axis for these forces. Also, whatever forces can be moved from these areas back to the Home Islands will be done with the limited lift Japan has left (1 TRS, 1 ATR). Operations in the China Sea will be maintained until these forces complete their retreat (or as long as feasible).

Japanese forces in the South China Sea and surrounding land areas have been notified that soon they will be on their own and to hold out the last man the best they can.

The priority now is the defense of the Home Islands.

I think I probably would have sent in the SS for another crack at the advanced American armor, given they also had those mobile 88s to bring along for the ride, giving a little over 2:1 from just those 2 attacking units. I might not have even worried about scrounging up the extra Panzers (probably none left) to call a Blitz, just a straight up Russian style massed infantry Assault on those exposed Shermans. True, failure would disorganize even more of the German line, but at least it would be a line again, with every unit in each pocket back to full combat strength at least, even on a bad roll, and the SS holding open the door for Guderian for at least a little while longer, with some helpful river lines aiding the deal as well. Now, I count 6 German units that will essentially not resist being removed from the map, allowing the Allies to do that while also being able to probe the new line as well - I know precisely which hex I would gamble on.

Though perhaps the Allies have just enough air reserves left, beyond the American NAV, to have kept that lonely ARM whole, one more time.



I am curious how the German MOT in the Carpathians is in supply.

No allied air in range left. I guess as the Germans I just couldn't pull the trigger again. I know panzer leader Hermann Balck would have (read a translation of his book, "Order in Chaos" last fall).
