Hi Plainan,

Mods won't load from the folder as shown above. Please move this 'Mod' folder to the following path and it should then work as expected:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Thanks Hubert but what does that translate to in steam? The game was dowloaded and installed under steam because I'm a penny pinching Scot. <G>

As far as I can see that's exactly where the folder is? I created a subfolder called Mods and stuck it in my main game directory which is called Strategic Command WWII War in Europe.......NO DASH in the steam title?

The game will have created additional folders where Hubert specifies.
You'll also find your save files there as well.

Correct, whether it is Steam or a Matrix install, the mods will go to the same folder I outlined above.

Ahhhhhhhh....the sound the of a penny dropping. The game creates a separate folder far far away from the main game folder? Why isn't the Mods folder part of........never mind. Problem solved.

I can stop staring at C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe and wondering where this comes from now?

I miss the days of DOS and himem sys.

Thanks Hubert.

The rules for Windows and applications installed to the Program Files folder has changed significantly since User Access Control was initiated going all the way back to Windows Vista. Essentially the Windows security settings simply aren't compatible with user files being added to a Program Files folder, and need to be installed to a USER folder in the Documents folder on your system.

This is why initialization files, saved game files and custom campaigns, mods etc., are installed to the USER folder instead of the Program Files folder. Of course in the old days we did it differently, but it is unfortunately no longer an option and a technical nightmare if we were to still try and do it today.

Here are a few articles explaining this further:
