RE: RADM Yamaguchi's Diary (Pls no affins or cheesesteak)
Thanks for all the ideas guys.
I remarked to my opponents that this forum is really such a gem. I know of no other little corner of the world with some many people who don't know each other are so thoughtful and helpful to others on such an unimportant issue such as a game. it really is special.
my opponents are taking quite a while on the 2nd turn. I don't know if it was because i was so aggressive on my landings and forward positioned so many of my troops and surface combatants or because there are two of them and they have to agree on everything first.
either way i can use the time to gather keen insights from you readers

The Allies don't have as many clicks as you do their first turn but it is still way more than any turn they will have until probably 1944.

I normally use between-turn times for various check-ups.
Leaders is a big one in the early-game. A couple of the capital ships and a fair few destroyers have woeful captains. Earmarking them to be replaced helps avoid nastiness like them colliding in to other ships or sailing into rocks.

RE: RADM Yamaguchi's Diary (Pls no affins or cheesesteak)
The longer this goes without a turn the more worried i get. I thought i covered all my landings sufficiently but now i'm not so sure. Houston and Boise were sitting around looking for targets. Are they going to come in to some vulnerable spot and shoot up my transports? I think they will all be empty because i brought along a lot of naval support almost everywhere but who knows. They better not be around long though. I've got a lot of forward positioned Air HQs and plenty of torpedoes to go around.
MM thanks for the reminder on the leaders. I'll double check on them. I recall an xAP with a captain that should be a great CV captain.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Dec 08, 41 OVERVIEW
2nd day of the war is over and things continue to go well. Several additional landings occurred at Tarawa, Nauru I, Ocean I, and Kavieng. These were all captured along with all bases targeted on the first day except Guam. Our SC TFs searched for Boise and Houston but found only non combatants. Boise did find one of our small TFs. Mini KB found Force Z. We lost a DD, 2 PCs, and an xAK. We likely sank the following: 1 BB(POW),3 CLs, at least 2 DDs, 3 SS, 3 AS, 1 AV, 2 CM, 5 AM, Tk, AO, and several xAP, XAK and xAKL. Aircraft losses were relatively light about a dozen netties and a few zeros and kates among others.

Hi Bif,ORIGINAL: Bif1961
The hundreds of escaping vessels had a wide swath cut out of them this turn.
netties are now based at Cagayan(AF4) and Singkawang(AF3) and both have AirHQs with lots of torpedoes.
perhaps the swath will cut wider.

RE: RADM Yamaguchi's Diary (Pls no affins or cheesesteak)
I've figured out my opponents secret weapon. Time.
It's been days since the 2nd turn now.
I don't know where any of my ships are. I can't remember where i was planning on invading next.
what kind of planes am i building again?
turn #3 is going to be like starting a new game all over again.
It's been days since the 2nd turn now.
I don't know where any of my ships are. I can't remember where i was planning on invading next.

RE: RADM Yamaguchi's Diary (Pls no affins or cheesesteak)
A suggestion, not on where to go or what to attack/defend since I am reading and commenting on the other AAR but again not what where to go or what to attack/defend, but for easier play and faster turn around time, name your task forces for what they are doing. If you need to, make notes about what you plans are, what you are sending now and what you will need later and approximately when.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

RE: RADM Yamaguchi's Diary (Pls no affins or cheesesteak)
Ranger Joe thanks for the advice. I've got the notebook ready. My typing skills are anemic so i think i'll skip the TF labels though.
My opponents AAR seems awful busy. They must have a more interesting story or they are getting a lot of help. I see a lot of different names listed as last poster.
I'll have to try to be more interesting. Any ideas? Anybody?
