Joined the Navy the year this came out the first time...served on CVN-71 and saw plenty of the F14s in the hanger bay. My room mate in A school had that song as his alarm clock. Hated that movie. Probably about like a sub guy watching sub movies, and firemen watching fire movies. Just gotta shake your head a bit and suspend reality a bit. Maybe I will enjoy it this time.

That being said, will see it...trailer looks pretty good, although Tom is looking a bit old.

Hot Shots!

A series of timeless classics. [:D] Although I'd be pressed to declare my preference for HS1 or HS part deux over Top Secret!

There are rubber stamp companies that will custom make a stamp for you. But you should update the language of your stamp to:

To my non-military, non-expert eye, the flight scenes looked good (except for the jets flying low of snow - that was wonky, but perhaps that's because it really is wonky).

Is there any way that a Navy, Army or Marine pilot would still be flying frontline fighters in his 50s?

And thank goodness they didn't put Kelly McGillis in the movie. She was a doll in the original but time has been particularly cruel to her.

Val Kilmer is hilarious in that great movie! He's also great in "Real Genius". [:D]

Well we all grow old (if we're lucky) but from the pictures I've seen at least Ms McGillis has grown old gracefully (i.e. naturally). Which is more than can be said for Meg Ryan..... WHY do they do that to themselves??

Meg Ryan was also a doll back in the day. I hadn't realized she'd had some kind of work on her face but a quick peek on the internet was jarring.

It must be hard to be an actor/actress in which so much of your worth is your appearance. Some age gracefully. Some seem to manage beautifully. But it's got to be a tough grind to go from 30 and stunning to 65 and something else.

I guess pro athletes may experience a variety of that.

I agree some people age better than others - but that's life innit? But the point is that they don't actually look younger - and certainly not better - when they have this done - especially the hideous 'trout pout'

And well it may be tough to feel she is losing her looks, but at least her beauty (sort of sweet/pretty in Meg Ryan's case) brought her a career and money she wouldn't have got without being blessed with looks.

Hi all,

I quickly read some comments about new "Top Gun: Maverick" trailer on YouTube and saw that many people think that "Captain" rank in the Navy is "low"... [&:]

While, in fact, that is the highest possible rank when one could still fly... and O-6 CAG (if that is what "Maverick" is / could be in the movie) is nothing to be ashamed of... [8D]
