Lag then crash to desktop

The game has always occasionally crashed for me ever since WiE, but recently it has been happing a lot more frequently (maybe because i've been playing a lot more). But I've noticed that the game starts to "lag" shortly before crashing to desktop, e.g. i click on a unit to try to move him, but the game freezes for a few seconds before doing my command. This is sometimes accompanied by a crash to desktop shortly after.

Not sure if anyone else is getting these more often than before
