PBEM on STEAM

Post by tex_ka95 »

Hello. I recently tried to start a game with someone via PBEM, which I have done before with other opponents. However, my opponent at first had trouble finding where the PSV file was located as he is using the STEAM version of WitE, whereas I have the non-STEAM version.

I helped him find the PSV file and he sent it to me. However, when I sent it back and he says he placed it in the same folder, he says when he opens the game and tries to open the PBEM file, it only shows the original file he created, not the one I sent him.

Ever seen that before? I wonder if this could be a permissions issue since the file is buried in a folder under Program Files (x86)?

Thanks

does the problem occur when he opens the file you sent him - or that he cannto find the file you have sent to him

There are a few reports liek this earlier in this section - and it did usually come down to human error. So it is worth absolutely eliminating those possibilities first.

I would suggest
i) Call your file that you send him something different - like "After my first go" rather than just simply saving to a file with the same name
ii) Make absoultely sure they are looking under PBEM and not under save files without passwords protection (.psv and .sav) as you can have very simialr game saves with the same file name but only see one of them when you try to open it - with potential confusion there

This might eliminate a few human errors first
