Into the Breach
While waiting for a fix from Steve so that I can continue my "Witness to World War 2" game and AAR, tm.asp?m=4576328 , I thought it'd might be fun and interesting to post what I'm doing, learning, and even doing wrong with CE.
The following game and abbreviated AAR may certainty go "Down in Flames" (pun intended), but what the heck it'll keep me occupied and out of trouble until I get the needed MWiF fix. [8D]
I'm calling the following abbreviated AAR, "Into Breach" because it's "into the breach while waiting on the fix" (again pun intended). [8D]

RE: Into the Breach
Which module are you using? Am I correct in guessing it's one of the Vassal ones?

RE: Into the Breach
I would encourage you to cover the Air War the most. Quite a lot of changes to the counter mix, gives a very different feel to the early years.

The first thing wrt/air combat that struck me was the change in strategic bombing in the first two columns. Normally, Japan would start off and continue hitting Chinese factories with 1 and occasionally 2 strength strat bombers. I believe (in FE) this tactic over time produced very good results (for the Japanese). Now, in CE, the effectiveness of 1 and 2 strength strat bombers has been (significantly) reduced and has rendered (in my opinion) going after Chinese factories with weak strat bombers not worth it. Especially now with the pay as you go oil model. For example, in FE, Japan could use round off to reorg their 2 or 3 weak strat bombers per turn (e.g., 1.4 oil needed, 1 oil used) to essentially carry out long term strategic bombing of Chinese factories using these weak bombers for essentially no oil. Now, they can't. It will cost them 0.2 to 0.3 oil per turn to use them and with less chance of success.

RE: Into the Breach
While I'm at it I'd like to point out two or three subtle changes to 2D10 combat.
City Modifiers are now changed to Factory Modifiers (max 0). No longer -1 for attacking a city. However, no longer +1 for every HQ attacking a city. Also, it's now +1/-1 for every engineering unit and not every factor attacking/defending a city with printed factories.
