This AAR is in real danger of at best having to be put on hold and at worst having to be abandoned after 6 1/2 months of play!

I'm unable to successfully reload my game files. I've tried at three different points, and even with different versions but with no success.

I'll keep trying to figure something out in order to continue.

Bug report on this has been posted, see tm.asp?m=4660047

If this game cannot be salvaged, anyone care to post any post-mortems?

Three beta testers have requested that this bug be given the highest priority, so all hope is not lost.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

While I'm waiting on Steve to fix this bug so I can continue this game and AAR, I've been keeping myself busy with CE. I've started a game and even began a "private" mini-AAR, which isn't intended to be as detailed and long-winded as this one.

If there's any interest in this less detailed AAR on my first attempt with CE I'd be happy to post what I'm doing (again not as detailed and in-depth as this one). Though, only if the "powers-to-be" are ok with this (i.e., CE AAR in MWiF forum).

Also, I thought it'd be interesting to discuss the differences between CE and 7.

Any estimate on if, and if so, when a fix for the bug I encountered might be available?

Aside from the monthly report, we haven't had anything new for Steve in a while. You know as much as I do about what he is doing. (See the monthly report.) One hopes that he is working on your bug; it is the only one that several of the beta testers have asked him to prioritize. We don't know if he is or isn't, and if he is, how long it will take. It is the sort of error he normally does prioritize -- a fatal, game stopping error with no workaround.

On the other hand, it looks like a hard bug to figure out. It is not clear what is causing it, although my suspicion is that it has something to do with the conquest of Vichy. Alternatively, it might have something to do with some resource limit reached. Either one might take some time to figure out.

Turn 32. Nov/Dec 1944. Allied #4.

Weather. Actions. The US decides to use their o-chit this turn to take a super-combine. They did debate whether or not to use it for that or to double land combat factors. However, all the US HQ units are too far back for doubling to be used effectively, so a super-combine was decided on with a focus to push hard in Germany, possibly take Rome and clear out the Japanese remaining on Formosa. Not to mention to use the super-combine to harass Japanese supply convoys running through the China Sea and Sea of Japan.

Turn 32. Nov/Dec 1944. Allied #4.

Western Allies. PTO. IJN Assessment. The allies start off with a review of Japanese naval strength, which is pretty weak. The only bothersome issue were the two I-boat flotillas. In the end, the USN decided to only allocate one PBY air wing to the Bismarck Sea for anti-submarine duties. The rest of the USN strength would be put into the China Sea and Sea of Japan. Basically, CICPAC made the decision to risk the Japanese I-boat attacks on allied convoys "behind the lines" of the action in primary action in the Pacific, which is now in the China Sea.
