Problem with Lockups in Game

For some reason, whenever I try to play uncommon valor, it always locks up my computer whenever a combat animation starts. I don't really want to turn off combat animation and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or as solved it and if so, how? The game worked fine before I upgraded my computer (specs below), so if someone knows how to fix this problem, I would appreciate it. I really want to play UV at the moment.

ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 MB
512 2700 DDR RAM
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live!
Windows XP Proffesional Edition

Sorry Mat, no instant answer but what exactly did you upgrade on your system? I think therein may lie a hint.

Not knowing what you upgraded, I'd just check that you have the latest drivers for the Soundblaster live card. I heard of problems in other games with SB Live and XP, but as I don't have either I don't remember the details.

I constantly getting game lockups. They seem to be totally random and can occur at any time. Very frustrating. Ive downloaded all patches including graphics drivers etc but no solution. Very frustrating...
