Help with game crashing to desktop

Post by IcyFire101 »

Hi!

I'm currently playing 2 Campaigns against the AI with the Focus Pacific Mod, and although I am over a year into my allied campaign without any problems. My Japanese save will always end up crashing, after around 10 or so turns. It's always at the very end of the combat replay when the 'Upgrading Aircraft' message shows. I figured its probably a faulty airgroup that is crashing the game to my desktop. But i'm not sure how to go about fixing it. I Have posted this on the tech forum but was told I might get more answers here. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am not sure anyone can help with this.

It may be a flaw in a squadron setting, but it may also be a corrupted saved game file.

Do you have older saves to go back to?

Try loading the current save and examining every squadron set to upgrade to a model that has sufficient pool depth for an upgrade. Turn off the upgrade and run the turn.

Of course, this would only work if the flawed squadron setting is in an Allied squadron and not a Japanese one.

Which Focus Pacific mod are you playing, with or without Russians active?

I played the Russian active version through about June of '42 with no glitches.

I quit at that point because I had already conquered all of Korea with the Russians.

Still plan to someday give the Russians not active versions a play through.

Thanks for the reply Hans!

Not quite sure what's causing it as I have replayed the game via a brand new save before and it still crashes eventually. Allied play through on the same scenario ( Without Russians Active ) Works perfectly. I have played through vanilla WITPAE as japan fine as well. Someone said perhaps it might be a memory issue, but I am not sure how to increase the allocated memory.

This is the error I get via event viewer if it helps. I doubt anyone will have the solution but I might as well try and ask!

Thanks Again.

Maybe one of the code savvy forumites will take a look at that error report and be able to glean more from it than me.

Good luck sorting it out.

Cheers Hans, might have to try another mod to play as Japan Vs the AI. Do you have any suggestions?

Best is to ask in the forum for your specified mod you play or e-mail the mod team. Every mod or scen has different setups so one who plays e.g. scen1 or scen2 cannot help [:(]

There exists quite some confusion sadly meanwhile with all the mods out there, I noted also in other threads already. Eg. there are mods which give the IJ unhistoric powers and there are players which might confuse their experience with such a mod with the semi historical sen1 or scen2. [:-]

I experienced not a single crash with the game in the last months, only some slow down, but this mostly happens if one alt-tabs out of the game and have a browser open for example. If one starts the game with nothing running at the same time it seems to be fine. Some recommend especially if playing PBM not to use the "ESC" key instead hit the exit button in the replay also to reboot before opening the game (clearing memory) which would combat the so called "sync bug"

That error code is a divide by zero fault. It has been linked to Nvidea driver error among others.

I do use Nvidea drivers so you are most likely correct. Is my save a lost cause? It's a shame as I am enjoying the extra toys Japan gets with FP.

I highly recommend the current game I am playing.

It's scenario #40, Ironman Nasty ported to Babes.

Way back when AndyMac was working in his Ironman sceanrios I was one of his major feedback providers.

Around that time I discovered the Babes mods and fell in love with the LCU countertmix changes.

I told AndyMac I was going to have a very hard time going back to playing stock based mods and pleaded with him to create a an Ironman Babes mod.

Eventually he got around to satisfying my request.

The scenario is actually a mix of his Nasty and Nasty Nasty mods, what are commonly referred to as tier 2 and 3 Ironman.

I never got around to playing his Nasty Nasty (tier 3) stock mod scenario. Not sure what the scenario number is for that one, but it might be worth trying out.

Scenario 40 is the first game I have played wherein the AI was still playing a viable game into '44.

Its first the game I have made it to '44 in, let alone '46 and is on track to hit the scenario end date of March 31, 1946.

Toys? Play scen 1 and enjoy the Bushido - a Nate above me and a sharpened bamboo stick in my hands.

Making sure you have the most up to date driver for your card would be the first step.

I Will check out Scenario 40 then! Thanks for the recommendation. I'm not great at the game but the extra challenge does sound fun. I shall look around the forums for it and hopefully I can make it past a couple weeks without it breaking on me!

Thanks again.

I would try updating the Nvidea drivers and see if it cures your problem. It will not affect your game at all.

the so called "sync bug"

I regularly pour a little bleach into my p-traps to keep those synch bugs down in the sewer. You could try having a parrot perch next to your synch to keep an eye on things.
