Was ok at 13:00 kickoff, but it did get a bit nipply by about 16:00 as the sun lost its power.

We say nippy up here, like Jack Frost not quite biting you. But nipply ... is that like when you are wearing a thin shirt and walk past the freezer section at the grocers?

Around here they use orange golf balls in the winter. Those should work on the Canadian prairies as well.

Still hard to find them in the snow. Also hard to drag a hand cart and the power carts get hung up in the first snow over 8" deep.
I know, we could put our clubs on a toboggan and wear snowshoes, but trying to hold a club with mittens on really affects your game! And if you need to relieve your bladder during the round the de-layering takes forever!
Some die-hards play a version of golf involving tennis balls and a plastic cup target that can be set in the snow to act as the hole. But you need to take it around with you and set up each hole before playing. I think they use dog sleds and the greenskeeper requires them to clean up after the dogs too! [:D]
