A problem with Displacement? I'm not sure.

Post by npsergio »

Hi,
Great game! I'm starting to understand the system, and I'm loving it.
This time I'm playing the Axis side in a 1943-45 campaign against the Allied AI.
The Allies have surprised me landing north of Rome in Italy, and now in France landing near Calais.
They have done a good job in France and the attrition is high at the front.

But I've found a "problem" here...
Several times (at least twice this last turns) I've seen how some of my units in the Paris area are displaced, I don't find the reason why this happen. I've taken a look to the manual, to look for an "open Paris" rule, or something similar, but I found nothing. I suspect that maybe it's because the units reduced their defensive CV to zero and they are forced to displace, but I'm not sure.

I've played the last saved turn twice. The first time, the 9th, 116th and 1stSS PzD were displaced to the east. On the second time, only the 116th and 1st SS were displaced.

Am I correct assuming that this displacement is due to the zeroed defensive CV?

I send the AI turn for you to see this displacements during the allied land attacks (only the 9th PzD fights, nor the 116th neither the 1st SS PzD fight).

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my english. If you need more insight, please, let me know it.

Bad news is this looks like a bug. The good news is that your units moved back a few hexes in my test, but took no damage to its ground elements. The other good news is that the AI didn't take advantage of this but in fact withdrew from the adjacent hexes. I'll pass this along to Gary to see if he can figure out how the AI pushed these units out of the way. Thanks for the report.
All understanding comes after the fact.

Thank you!

Yes, it was a bit strange... That's why I looked for a rule to explain it. It seems some sort of a mandatory rule, perhaps a "self defense" rule in some circunstances. Given the fact of the general rebelion of the Resistance before the liberation of Paris, it was not strange to me to accept a rule in wich Paris get a self defense in case of allied troops presence near the city... I'll take it as if it was that. I'm enjoying too much to ruining my game. [;)]
