What does this mean

Post by fogger »

I started getting the following message when I opened TOAW this morning. What do I do to fix it?

It means they have 'upgraded' something so the little advertisement window in the upper left of the game launcher is broken and so you get script errors. I am getting them too.

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

I never use the game launcher thingie. I'm always starting TOAW
by clicking on a shortcut that points to the actual executable
itself. I have three shortcuts now: 4.1.0.5, 4.1.0.21, and 4.1.0.31
and I've never had a problem with any of them. The game launcher
thingie just takes up memory in core for no useful purpose. It's
irrelevent and should be avoided IMHO. There are no command line
arguments passed to the game engine at startup so there's no reason
to not use shortcuts in lew of using the launcher. I have deleted
the launcher program from my directory so there's no danger I might
use it.

Yeah the launcher is a broken useless mess and the sooner Matrix/Slitherine drop those abominations from their games the better.

Change your shortcut to load "Opart 4.exe" instead of autorun.exe.

Matrix said this issue will get fixed shortly, they are going down the list of items that are related to the new web site update.
