Squadron insignia and editor saves

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Squadron insignia and editor saves

Post by MakeeLearn »

I just reinstalled WitW, and Public Beta 1.02.57, after several years and I've noticed 2 things that seem different.

1- There are no Squadron insignia on the unit screen.
2- When editing a scenario it allows me to save under the original name instead of forcing me to save under a new name.
This overwrites the original scenario.

Can anyone clear these up for me?

I get squadron patches in my game. Have you checked to see where the DAT/ART folder is?

The Airsym folder, contains the air art, is in "C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the West\Dat\Art". The insignia for the ground units is showing but none of the air unit, Axis nor Allied.

Thanks

Found out why no Squadron insignia -

That was a feature that was made available in "War in the West: Operation Torch". So it is solved when I installed "Torch".

Still would like to have the Motor Pool numbers verified:

MP: 87k/73k (29k)

What are you looking to verify with regards the motor pool?

Once I could open the manual I found out about the Motor Pool.

Of the 3 things I was trying to figure out I solved 2. the 3rd is that when I edit a scenario I have to save over the original, thus losing the original. I seem to remember from before that I would be asked to save the changes under a new name, thus preserving the original scenario.

To avoid saving over the original, on the Main tab in the Editor, change the Scenario Name to something new. (the current scenario name is in light blue/cyan text). Then Save Scenario.

That's right, just click on the scenario name in the editor and rename it.
