Does anyone develop production tech? Is it worth buffing?

Post by HamburgerMeat »

I think production tech is not worth it in its current iteration for pretty much every major power. Is there anyone who thinks otherwise?

For the US and Germany absolutely. For others it may be too expensive/it depends. You need to get it early and then produce a lot of units for it to pay off.

Its most important for US and Germany, but it's worth it for every power exept maybe Italy. I am currently playing Japan and in 1944 I'm very happy I can afford to buy desperately needed new units at vastly reduced prices.

Very important ! Especially for USA and USSR who needs large amount of units in order to beat Germany/Japan.

I prefer Industry over Production, but try and do what I can spare for US, Germ, and Britain, USSR if they can afford it

I too prefer industry over production, but think that in the end it's the combined effect of investing into both which makes it really worth it.

Industry incraese your main income by twice as much, so anyone except maybe UK, industry is better in any case, but for the three big ones (US, SU and Germany), it is still very important, and for UK it can be even better, since most its income is not boosted by industry. Japan also can have lots of convoy source, so production is quite nice. For Italy, India and Chine it is simply too costly but it is true for most tech too.

Yet it could get some boost, esp the late ones, currently you develop them later and can use for less time with less effect, so the last lvls could be wasted.

*** DISCLAIMER: My maths is not always correct ***

However, if 125 mpps gets you a 5% discount, then for every level*
It starts to payback over (20*125) 2,500 mpps (3,500 for USSR)

* This ignores the time taken to get to each level and that I don't have exact figures until that level is reached

If you look at the Total Amount Spent after a game then it is Very Worth it

Here are some figures from a Major Axis Victory

UK 29479
USA 32261
USSR 23044
CHINA 6353
IND 7550
GER 42652
ITA 7971
JAP 18276

For someone like the UK a 625 mpp investment returns over 7000 mpps over the course of a game
