A short turn with very fierce counterattacks. I was able to push Willie back 5kms on a 10 km front.

In my counter attacks I have bumped up against some of Willie's arty. This picture gives you some idea of the arty that Willie has lined up against my front line and the reason why he has been able to push forward so fast. I think there is more in the hexes that I can not see.

You have done your job making it into 1945!

Looking back was there something you could have done different to make a significant difference?

Hi Tom,
This was one of the original test versions. In this game I did not get as far as I had in some previous games and my casualties were a lot heavier. I found the Russians to be far too strong / Germans too weak.

One of the suggestions that I had made to Soren was for the German player to be given some free attack bonuses. I found that if I was able to take the objectives set out in the rules I was not in a position to take advantage of the attack bonuses that followed. In the current version the German gets 3 offensive chits in 1941.

I have not tested these "chits" yet but if they are as I suggested then I would not attack on 3 fronts but switch back and forth between the 3 objectives. This would allow me to bring maximum force to bear while keeping the Russian player guessing to a point.

I have just received Willies turn back and from his email I think I have just lost.

Ah well there is always the next game. One day I will win.

I will load his turn and post some pictures shortly

cheers
john

Yeah from willie's pics there was just TOO MANY soviet units around.

Very impressed with the Soviets' ability to keep their railroads up to the frontlines, though. Much impressive.

Fite2 is not a game for the faint hearted. After a short break I will be back into it. It is a very additive game
