Unit Report in Midway Scenario

Post by Phobosdeimos71 »

Hello

I am playing the Midway 1942 scenario that came with TOAW 4. When I went to check out the USS Yorktown Unit Report screen it displays the following.

1/1 (90%) 1/3 Yorktown...
1/1 (90%) 1/3 Yorktown...
1/1 (90%) 1/3 Yorktown...

What exactly does that mean?

I also put the Equipment256 file made by Josant in the Graphics Override Directory but the Yorktown displays
as an Ironclad/ Pre-Dreadnought not an aircraft Carrier.
Can I change this?

The Yorktown is modeled in three pieces - to give it the ability to base three air units on it. It starts with 10% damage.

Huh?

I uploaded the Equipment256 file that I have placed in my Graphics override folder for you to see.
Have I done this correctly.

That doesn't do anything, since Midway 42 has its own equipment file. What do you mean "the Yorktown displays
as an Ironclad/ Pre-Dreadnought"?

If you look at the Unit Report for the Yorktown right where it says

1/1 (90%) 1/3 Yorktown...
1/1 (90%) 1/3 Yorktown...
1/1 (90%) 1/3 Yorktown...

There is a graphic of a Ship to its left side. It shows a some sort of battleship not and aircraft carrier

You mean the silhouette. There is only one silhouette for all naval equipment.

Now, there are many 3D icons for naval equipment. And the Yorktown is shown as an aircraft carrier in that:

Midway 42 might be the one scenario that it would be better to play in 3D mode.

Those 3D ones do come in handy for a naval scenario.

Josant has a carrier in his graphic file, so I stuck in here. Does it look good enough? I think it looks a little rough. Maybe somebody can come up with one better. If so, I can do the same with it. However, it won't work for everything because it needs a 'custom' eqp file so it has to be added sce by sce.

Bob, if you want it this is the file. It uses the standard file, with the CV added to a blank spot. It is at the lower right so it is easy to find.

To the rest of you, you can't use it unless you also make a custom .eqp file!

It does look a little rough. And what's the point of doing that if you can't do it for all ship classes, not just CVs. This will be addressed down the road someday.
