Called shot

Post by Kroah »

Hi again !

I have play several games where i tried to master the called shot. Of course i tried to burst the head with an -50% mod but i saw that with a "successful" called shot, i haven't hit the location i targeted. So with a called shot to the head, i hit the Torso. 75% of my called shot on the head hit an other part.

I wonder that if the target is prone or not, that could be more difficult to hit the head. And perhaps the mods are not the same between the locations (torso, head, leg...)

Can you explain me the accuracy of a "successful" called shot ? I want to know if i have hope to hit the head or not with few called shot.

PS: i mean by "successful" called shot a called shot that hit the location i choose.

Thanks
Pascal

Here's what's in the guide:

If the called shot attack check is successful, you get a number of rolls on the internal damage location table. If one of those rolls falls into the desired location, the called shot hits that location; otherwise it hits the location of the last of those rolls. The number of attempts is modified by what you roll making the check.
Example: Let's say your ToHit for a called shot to the center torso is 50%. You roll 30. You get 4 free rolls on the location table for aiming at the center torso and 2 more for being 20% below what you needed. 6 rolls are made on the internal location table, which has a 20% for the torso you want to hit. If one of these rolls makes it your called shot is successful.
Each location has a different value on the location table based on size. The head for example gives only 2 free rolls on the location table, making it much harder to hit.

Hope this helps.

wow you reply faster than light ! :)

Ok, i haven't seen this addition in the new manual :p

i wonder we haven't access to the "internal damage location table" ?
Or perhaps could you give some numbers (for the leg ;) )

And did the "prone/stand/shutdown" have the same mods ?

(i ask these questions 'cause i'm testing the beautiful BRG)

Happy gaming !

This is not in the manual. It's in the guide, an unofficial extension of the manual compiled by me with info from Larkin collected over the years.
Eric (rosary) was working on a pdf version to release to the public if Matrix ok'ed it. Don't know the status.
The guide has been attached in some thread a few weeks ago by Larkin, but I've already added some more info.

I sent it to matrix games on 8/11/2003 according to my outbox.

in the download webpage of Titans of steel at:

http://www.matrixgames.com/default.asp? ... nloads.asp

there's a link "Download PDF File Info" that isn't functionnal. Perhaps it's the guide you talked about ?
