Kerch - Eltigen Operation ?
Anyone know of a game (not Panzer Corps or OOB) that covers this operation from either an operational (preferred) or tactical standpoint ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerch%E2%80%93Eltigen_Operation
I looked through my TOAW III, Campaign Series and Panzer Campaigns titles and could not find anything.
It would be a shame too since it seems fairly well balanced and involves a lot of combined arms elements. Looks ideal for a Decisive Campaigns scenario for the future ...

RE: Kerch - Eltigen Operation ?
I don't know of any, nor of any that cover Kerch 12-41 to 5-42. Both look like good possibilities for TOAW. [:)]
RE: Kerch - Eltigen Operation ?
I believe I have one for COW and I converted it to TOAW IV.
Supposedly the original author did not want to share but he has been awol for decades.

Schwerpunkt games used to have a game of just the WWII Crimean Campaign, but I don't see it now:

RE: Kerch - Eltigen Operation ?
I just picked up Scwerpunkt's World at War Europe this weekend, still leaning the interface and how the game works.
There are four scenario's covering this part of the campaign:
#49. Crimea Breaking, covering 9/28/41 to 11/30/41.
#56. Recapturing Kerch, covering 12/7/41 to 4/12/42.
#62. Capturing the Crimea, covering 5/3/42 to 7/5/42.
#85. Liberating Crimea, covering 4/2/44 to 5/14/44.
So far it's interesting, need to figure out the interface and how it works.

”Liberating Crimea” is scenario n.85 in their new game “World War II Europe 1939-1945”
http://schwerpunkt.games/misc/games/wor ... 1939-1945/
It starts with the Soviets already having a foothold on Western Crimea. The starting situation is more or less like the one presented in the first map on that Wikipedia link you provided.

Wow - I have not thought about Schwerpunkt in a very long time.
Thanks for the links / info guys.
49.95 is a bit steep but I like the old-school board game feel.
I might just have to put this into the purchase queue ...

Regarding WWII I can tell this: some scenarios are as big as other games sold for full price. Poland '39 (which I'm playing to commemorate the anniversary of the start of WWII) will require, I guess, three evenings (or one intense day).
The game still lacks the big campaigns like "Eastern Front 41-45" - they are still being implemented by the developer. The content available right now (in version 11) however, is immense: 85 scenarios (IIRC) of all sizes out of 102. The value for money is top-level.
Here is the manual, if you are curious: http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/ ... 82a7d67942

This looks nice - is there an Editor ?!?! [:D]Scwerpunkt's World at War Europe
I have their 'Anglo-German War 1939-1945' from 2005. I never liked the 'limit on attacks' thing. I know it is realistic, but I didn't like having to put that much planning into each turn.
RE: Kerch - Eltigen Operation ?
Yes there is an editor for World War II Europe.
It's not TOAW but its pretty good.

Well, to each one his own. The limited number of attacks/turn is the thing I like the most in the game (and in the option panel you can modify this number for the AI and actually see different behaviours).
In a way, each turn you have to decide where your... uhm... Schwerpunkt is - so even the company name is not false advertising. [:D]

RE: Kerch - Eltigen Operation ?
Thanks RFalvo69 it was actually your post somewhere else that caused me to look into WWIIe (I have the Russo-German War, had not played it in years) and when I did a little research on WWIIe I decided to give it a go.
So thanks.
So thanks.

Yes there is an editor for World War II Europe.
Yes and no. Ron Dockal is using the scenario builder, but it is not yet available in the game. He wants to finish the game scenarios first before releasing it.
With regard to scenario #49 Crimea Break-In, it's a nice scenario for this topic. There are a couple of OOB and setup inaccuracies that I pointed out to Ron, and I'm hoping he will correct them or I may mod the scenario once the scenario builder is available.

Thanks for the intel Bill! I watched one of Ron's video's today, and I do have some interest as I have been looking for something of this scale and scope. I will wait for the full builder to be available, as that is what I am used to and anything less would be not great, lol.

I had problems with Russo German war game. Is the new game interface much better?

Ron Dockal is (in)famous for his unusual interfaces. However, he managed to refine the UI for WWII without compromising his “vision”. Remember to turn on the “Game Assisted Cursor Moves” in the Option menu (the in-game one). It changes everything for the better.
In a way, moving from TOAW (and other games with similar UIs) to Schwerpunkt WWII it is like moving from a PC to a Mac (or viceversa): once you learn the quirks of the specific interface everything will flow smoothly.

I can concur. The way his games function is very different. It takes some time to get used to and many people just give up. But once you understand how everything works they are great fun to play.
